Rooms aren’t cheap here but you do get what you pay for.

Well-located for hikers on the Southern Upland Way, St Cuthbert’s Way, or Herring Road. Room was clean, cosy, and well equipped. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Good quality food and great menu choices in the evening, and breakfast is reasonably priced.

Lovely, spacious and very clean room. We were attending a wedding nearby and had a great stay. Just a note for future guests: if you’re returning late at night, the front doors are locked. We rang the bell and called reception but got no response. Luckily, we found the hotel entrance around the back.

Easy parking. Very obliging staff. Beautiful rooms, elegant decor, spacious, efficient showers. Excellent food at both dinner and breakfast. We would happily return here.

It was having more work done to add accommodation which left it looking a bit of a building site at the back, it was only the look at the rear, did not affect our stay

The room was smart and roomy, a large walk in shower, comfy bed, free easy access parking, the owner his wife and all the staff were so friendly, the breakfast was excellent, fresh tomatoes and the black pudding was divine,

Very good food for evening meal, and breakfast. Staff were very friendly and the place had a good ambience. Shower was huge and good pressure. Comfy bed and Staff accommodating with regard to our request for no feather pillows or duvets. Good light black out from blind and heavy curtain.

Comfortable stay and helpful in booking a taxi next day which helped with our walk over the Southern Upland Way. Lovely breakfast, all ready for us in the morning. friendly staff and owner met us at breakfast to check our stay was ok.

Didn't have time to try the breakfast, as I had to collect my car from a wedding venue then check out, but the room was great and special shout out to the shower and bathroom which was one of the nicest I've had in a hotel. My friend and I were attending a wedding and had temporarily lost our key and the staff were patient and helpful when they had every right not to be! - Sorry! and thanks again!

Being situated on the Main Street, we had window open as it was warm and traffic a little noisy in the morning. Only outdoor seating was on the main street so again, noisy with traffic.

Beautiful decor, amazing food, big fluffy bath towels, really comfortable beds, dog friendly, lovely staff.

An absolute gem of a property

A bit of affic noise as our bedroom faced the road. Old single glazed windows but the owner told us she was having problems with the local authority who were being difficult on replacing them due to historic value. Hopefully she will gain some agreement from the council in the near future.

Ezcellwnt food, nicely served, a comfortable bed, a new bathroom, tea & coffee on hand, very pleasant staff, interesting decor,. Loved the unusual wooden tables and chairs in the restaurant.
