Entry requires two codes. Yhe first keypad, by the front door, is reasonably easy to use. The one that resembles a combination lock, outside the room, which delivers the key, is much more difficult. At least I was forced to learn how to use my phone as a torch, so thanks for that!

Brentwood is based on an excellent idea - i.e. provide just what is needed without further complications at a brilliantly low price. No food, but York is full of cafes. No en-suite shower, but I really appreciated the en-suite toilet. Great for the unaccompanied traveller pursuing particular interests (nearby museums, in my case). Considering the low cost I was prepared for a slightly dog-eared environment, but no. This is clean and very nicely decorated accommodation.

Everything was excellent...just the no food option brought the facilities down...available breakfast would have been better for us.

We did find the room quite compact, even though the price paid was very reasonable.

Good room with clean en suite bathroom. Plenty of space for hanging and storing clothes. Tea and coffee in room, with top up stuff available in the downstairs hallway. Lots of electric sockets (no USB). Very quiet neighbourhood just to the north of the centre, short walk into town. On-street parking can be arranged at a small extra cost per day, as can early check-in.

    No Complaints

The Brentwood is a guest house set in a Victorian Terrace. Our room was well appointed and comfortable , the decor and on suite shower/toilet are tastefully done to a high standard. It's an easy 20 minutes walk into York. Parking is close by in the street outside. It's important to inform the owners if you would like to arrive early as the parking permit (£5 ) only covers the check in to check out times. I would highly recommend staying here.

Unfortunately we had noisy guests above us, although the hotel owners made it clear to the guests to be considerate of others - so the owners aren’t to blame and was just an unfortunate occurrence.

Excellent location, a 10 minute walk to the York Minster at most! Great value for money - the room was clean and warm, and had what you needed for a couple of nights. Easy self-check in and check out. Parking was extra, but it was a very cheap rate - no quibbles about that! We were on the ground floor and didn’t have any view, but as we were out in York for the whole day, that didn’t bother us at all!

The tap was very powerful in the bathroom so I sprayed myself with water when washing my hands! But that was fine, I dried off!

We stayed for a night in March and it was a very pleasant, easy experience. Check-in was very simple and the building itself is very secure once inside. We had regular clear contact from Mary and Jo so we knew we could ask if there were any questions. The room was simple and welcoming with twin beds. It was a suitable size room for me and my sister. We had a little on-suite bathroom with shower, sink and toilet and were provided with towels and shower gel and hand wash. There was also a little cubpard for hanging our clothes. Very nice stay and good location not far from the centre of York. It was SUPER quiet overnight also which was a bonus.

Room 5 was quite big, however, make sure to check the room dimensions before booking as some other rooms are a lot smaller.

Room 5 was lovely. Plenty of space. Check in and out was explained really well via email. Very clean throughout the whole building. Lovely lady who runs the b&b. Helpful and friendly. About a 20 min walk to the town centre. Plenty of places to eat nearby . Will definitely go back. Extremely good value for money

Early check out time. An extra hour would be been helpful after a busy weekend in York.

Great location, rooms were small (we had one of the en suite rooms) but was clean, tidy and enough storage and space for a weekend away.

    Nothing, everything was great.

Absoutley everything!! The ease of checking in was great. it offers a self-check in facility so no fuss or pressure to be there at a specific time. Outside parking facility at a very reasonable rate (£5 per night). The room we had (Room 2, ground floor) was perfect for our needs, and everything was ideal. Bed was comfortable, the room was spotless and there were plenty of tea/coffee available with more in the hallway if needed. Brentwood Guesthouse is a short, pleasant walk from the City walls and the Cathedral but is tucked away enough from the hustle and bustle of busy York. We look forward to staying here again as we are regular visitors to York.
