Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomA little difficult to find the right entrance despite the best efforts from the owners to explain... the very pretty Dunbar garden featured in the brochure is in fact next door. We finally understood where to go , but as Edinburgh seems to be full of key safes if these are part of your instructions to get into the property it can be confusing .
location was perfect, accommodation was very clean, beds comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. It was a little minimal in its furnishings , but had enough to make us comfortable .

United KingdomThough not essential, it would be useful to have some hooks in the property for coats, a mirror in each bedroom as well as a full length mirror.
The location, the rooms were a good size and the beds were really comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed and the bathroom was a good size. We could contact the hosts easily.

FinlandSome furniture could be renewed like the table in the living room. Which was almost falling apart. We where four people, some of the dishes were not enough. We were wiping the floor because our socks went dirty. With small improvement like carpet on the floor and some new furniture the apartment would be cotzy.
The location was excellent and peaceful, although the apartment was along the mainstreet of the old town. There was also a washing machine and a dishwasher. The bahtroom was ok.

United StatesPictures online are nicer than reality. The gate to those beautiful gardens is locked so it isn’t even accessible to see them. There is only one mirror which is in the bathroom and no outlet in the bathroom which was very inconvenient. Place was not as clean as I would like. Generally clean enough but walls and baseboards not clean, dishes that needed washed better, messy vent above oven range. Not enough towels for our stay. Only one hand towel. No wash cloths. Additional pillows but no pillow cases. Looked in a closet for more and just found one with things not folded and stuffed in there so not sure what was clean or usable. No amenities like coffee. Only a couple of hangers for clothes. Just felt like not what we’re used to and left us wanting. Our first night there was no heat and we were freezing. I reached out but didn’t get help until the next day when I was given instructions on how to correct it with the boiler and excuses on how this gained rather than deep apology. I did get a small refund but our first night was horrible and it wasn’t enough in my opinion.
The location is fantastic! Right on the Royal Mile and in vicinity of Holyrood. We could walk to most everything. Affordable compared to others in this location.

United KingdomThe external of the property was not as expected. The external photgraph showed a nice garden. In reality, it was a scruffy yard at the rear of the property. The garden shown in the photo was from a public garden next to the property. It was difficult to get the key out of the key safe to enter, and when we did enter, we were very disappointed with the communal entrance and stairs. The walls were full of damp, and the paint was falling off the walls. The area was also filthy. Unfortunately, this first impression was not the best.
The apartment had everything you could possibly need except a mirror in the bedroom near a plug socket. It was clean and warm, and all the rooms were as expected from the photographs.

United KingdomThe property could do with a few decorative / finishing touches just to make it really stand out as exceptional. It is nice and really does have everything you need for a citybreak but feels like just a little more thought and effort could make it into the sort of place you would definitely be rushing to recommend to all your friends.
The property is in a classic Edinburgh stone building set back in aa private courtyard (A 'Close' in Edinburgh terminology) from Canongate (the lower end of the Royal Mile). This makes it very centrally located and very good for a weekend / long-weekend break (it's just a 10 min walk from Waverley Station and 15 mins from the Castle and Princes St - George St - St Andrew's Square). It was very clean, had a good bathroom with a really excellent shower and the apartment had good heating and was toasty warm through out our stay. This was very much appreciated when an unexpected cold snap and the snow arrived! The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed for breakfasts and we happily ate in one night. The beds were comfortable and we slept very well.

GreeceWe would appreciate having at least 2 towels per person (one small and one big one) as well a couple of extra blankets because on our last night we got a bit late. Having more shampoo bottles would be nice as well, sharing 2 small bottles for 4 people was a bit tricky..
