How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Everything was perfect. The Castle Hotel sign outside our room may need some WD40 however that's the only fault we could find.
Friendly obliging staff, nothing was too much trouble, made us feel extremely welcome. Breakfast was excellent, coffee and tea during breakfast plentiful. Room extremely clean and tidy, bed very comfortable. When we return to Devizes we will definitely stay here.

Old building, but very clean and fresh after recent refurbished. Very helpful and friendly staff. Very close and convenient to shops, pubs and restaurants.

The only thing here is the parking. ( obviously it’s in the town centre) But we parked in a side street behind it. And we could have done with more than two teabags in the room as we both drink tea so we could only have one cup. Very minor things in an otherwise great hotel.
Lovely, spacious room. Really nice bathroom. Excellent location. Very friendly, helpful staff.

Despite extra sound proofing the front rooms were a little noisy . But that’s being next to a road! The room quality was a good distraction!!
Location was great. Decor was clean fresh and modern in keeping with the building. Staff were extremely friendly, helpful, knowledgeable of the area and just really nice people . I asked for softer pillows….and there they were . Breakfast staff operated like a well oiled machine, bright , friendly and service was exemplary. Nothing was too much trouble! Believe me I would say if it wasn’t!! Overall, SUPERB!

Greeting from staff was lovely. Very friendly and helpful. Booked into room straight away. Room was spacious, clean and warm. Bathroom modern with good shower. Didn’t make plans to eat in the hotel but chose to. The Ambiance is lovely. Comfortable without being too formal. Breakfast was ordered the night before and ready at requested time. Fabulous breakfast. Again the staff were wonderful, very friendly, nothing too much trouble. Location central. Good price. Overall a really great place to stay

Would have really like fresh coffee in the room. Even coffee bags would be good. I'd prefer mugs to tiny cups.
It has really changed for the better. The thing that really made it for me was the very helpful staff. I had excellent support when I was too ill to travel and they were very helpful when at the hotel too. Room was extremely clean. Bed very comfortable. Everything seemed very new.

Only negative, there were 2 plug sockets on one side of the bed but none on my side, so I was unable to charge my phone next to my side of the bed.
Staff attentive, free parking available, Rooms comfortable & freshly updated. Definitely go back & and I would recommend

The hotel was lovely ,we had a great welcome, the staff were lovely and friendly,the service was great. Our room was a lovely size with a bathroom. The breakfast service was excellent on both days. The cooked breakfast was one of the best we have had.⁵
