Noisy only old single glazed windows. Deafening extractor fans in the bathrooms.

Clean comfortable, attentive staff, good breakfast. Central location to explore Cathedral and Castle.

The wooden blinds in the bedroom let in light, curtains as well might be the answer.

The location was brilliant. I understand what other reviews have said about the hotel needing a bit of TLC but I think you have to look at the bigger picture. The hotel has a history, it used to be the nurses home for the psychiatric hospital which was on the same sight. The bedroom was clean with good facilities; a comfortable bed and plenty of storage. The shower was great and there was a huge sink! The continental breakfast had everything you could possibly want.

The room was a little tired and bare. It felt like hospital quarters and after googling the building realised it once was. No mirror, wallpaper peeling off, shower holder broken. Fortunately the friendly staff and excellent location made up for this.

The location was amassing, right near the castle and old part of the city. Lots of charming places to eat and drink on your doorstep.

Bar didn’t open so we went across the road for a pre dinner drink. Breakfast only continental. Parking extra (prefer higher price with everything included rather than incidentals on arrival)

Grubby and needs work doing. The hotel bar was not open. Also there was a wedding planned so breakfast was not organised well and had to wait for a table, no bin to put rubbish in either. Room very grubby and needs a complete overhaul. Also no lift so if you have luggage and on 2nd floor then could be a struggle.

Staff very pleasant and location is perfect

The facilities were lacking for the price. Also, the room was not very clean and we overall felt like this was not value for money.

The staff were friendly and the suite we were in was big and we were able to relax before bed on the sofa. The breakfast provided had plenty of options and was tasty.

It is a bit dated, except the bar and lounge area which had recently been refurbished and looked amazing. We know that the current owners are in the process of renovating etc so it wasn’t a problem to us

We stayed at the hotel for our daughter’s wedding on 28th March 2024. All of the staff went above and beyond to make the day so special nothing was too much trouble! Thank you all

I understand that the hotel is under new management. Please replace the mattresses, a spring kept me awake!!! The continental breakfast would benefit by larger croissants or bread rolls to have with the cheese and meats We had only one set of towels and had to ask for another. There seemed to be a problem getting them so they finally arrived at 8.30pm The bar looked lovely but it doesn't open! Only on special occasions. Went over to the pub instead.

Location was great for visiting the Castle and Cathedral, lovely area around the hotel. The young staff were lovely

The hotel was obviously converted in the 1990s and it shows. The breakfast was minimal and would have been nice to have a cooked option. Unfortunately, the bar was under going refurbishment, so no real place to sit in the afternoon.

The location of the hotel is excellent. Easy to get to all the attractions and eateries. With probably the best real ale pud within 5 minutes walk

Very noisy outside the hotel when the bins and bottles were emptied. Decorating being done downstairs. Very strong snell of paint.

The beds and pillows weren't to our liking, not unbearable, but not as comfy as we would have liked.

The location is ideal. Very close to the Castle and the Cathedral. Some very nice eateries a short stroll away and also some friendly pubs nearby.

The shower had a head coming out of the ceiling so it wasn't possible to have a quick shower in the morning without washing long hair which I'd have preferred not to do on that day. The breakfast was ok. Once this hotel is renovated it'll be amazing which I expect with increase the price tag somewhat.

Booked specifically for the location which is great. We had a booking.com room upgrade to a suite which was really nice and great value for what we paid. Staff were super friendly. Loved the fact we could see the castle wall from our room.

Only two real issues were that the room had not been fully cleared of previous guests items - ear buds and full cans of drinks. The other issue was I was expecting a full breakfast to be included but was informed at check in that it was continental. That may well have been my fault for not reading the booking description properly. I also thought the decoration and carpets could do with a freshen up.

Huge room/suite was exceptional value for money. Reception staff were extremely pleasant. Location excellent. Good enough for me to consider staying again with my Wife next time for a leisure break.
