Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe rooms and pool are looking tired and a bit dated.
We had a gorgeous meal in the restaurant and the staff couldn't do enough for you. Lovely bar area and grounds. We took full advantage of the gym and pool.

United KingdomNothing major - only one large bath towel and hand towel could have done with 2 of each really - no electric plug by the bed - had to trail cable for my CPAP machine (sleep apnea kit!) from hallway and have machine half way down the bed! No bottled water in the room or a mini bar.
Room clean an tidy with good space - excellent large screen TV, excellent WiFi, bathroom decent size, clean, functional and well laid out - good water pressure. Tea and coffee facilities. Beds comfy, pillow / duvet warm and right size for bed! Great service at check-in and check-out - very friendly staff, bar was excellent and well stocked. Hotel very quiet overnight - no noisey pipes or A/C and no rowdy guests.

United KingdomThe walls are paper thin, we could hear next door talking and watching tv at 2am. Pool changing rooms aren’t dirty and falling apart. It’s a very long walk to Chester, but we knew that.
It was clean and comfortable, parking on site. Room was modern enough. Pool area was ok. Breakfast was amazing with lots of choice. Nice bar near the entrance.

United KingdomNo sockets near bed for charging phone, no soft lighting by side of bed. Could have done with more choice on evening menu. Not as quiet as some of the other hotels I stay in
Room was ok - clean and tidy. No sockets near bed for charging phone and spotlights over bed on a dimmer switch rather than a bedside lamp, one dimmer switch not working. A load of people decided to stop outside my room around midnight for a chat before going to their rooms which cheesed me off a bit not the hotels fault I know but still disturbed my sleep. Evening meal was very nice although I thought there could have been more choice on the menu. Breakfast was ok. Staff were very helpful and pleasant.

United KingdomI feel like the carpet could have felt cleaner, maybe a shampoo? And the breakfast quality could be improved. Sausages and bacon mostly. The shower was cold, but after a phonecall to reception, that was quickly resolved which was good.
The family room was spacious and great for a family of 4. The swimming pool was great and that was the main reason we chose to stay here. Location great for visiting Chester and the zoo. We would stay again.

United KingdomDidn't like the amount of dogs in the hotel as some were not on short leads and one jumped up on my wife and she is frightened of dogs. If I had known there were to be so many I may have gone to a different hotel. It would have been helpful to make it clearer on the website that dogs would be there.
The staff were excellent and very welcoming and helpful. Food in the restaurant was very good but disappointing that the menu was the same each night. Breakfast was good but my poached eggs were hard boiled.

United KingdomBit noisy i felt like i could hear into every room surrounding us down to footsteps and conversations which was a bit annoying early morning. Was also a bit disappointed when i went to make tea in the morning and noticed our mugs appeared to be dirty with coffee on the outside (not stained but actually dirty as though they hadnt been replaced after previous guests) but other than that things were lovely and clean.
Staff really friendly made us feel super welcome. Lovely size of room and clean. Bar was great. Great location to visit chester zoo and town centre.
