Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Hong KongLack of shower room for girls on G/F/ As I am only staying 1 night, I am unsure how the other floors are. The G/F has 1 room with 3 showers; one was occupied, and the other had no water. The sink in the dorm is not necessary, and annoyed, as people use it at different times in the morning, the noise when you are still asleep. ( I saw a girl washing clothes and belongings in the dorm!), The sink in the room should be banned/ shut the tap. This hostel needs to pay an extra 2 pounds for the reservation of a lower bed, which I never seen this in another country
The bed is clean. 24-hour reception, the area is located at King Cross, and safe to stay, Quiet dorm except for someone using the sink in the room.

BelgiumI've been coming to clink for years, and honestly, it is getting worse. - no more nice sofa downstairs to chill - after a year still no hot water in one of the female showers on the second floor - There are not a lot of showers for a lot of people, and since they get cleaned only once a day, they are very dirty 99% of the time. But the weird people is my biggest problem. A lot of hostels in London accomodate working crew. This means that this are guys who are working on buildings around London, and sleep in hostels. This gives quite a weird vibe. I always chose Clink, because it was the only hostel where I never had this experience, until this year. There was also a homeless man staying in our room for my complete stay. This also gives quite the weird vibe. One guy was superagressive, but they immediately blacklisted him. So they handled that very well. All in all, you don't get a real travellervibe anymore in the hostel, and it might just become to expensive for what you get.
Location is good and beds are okay.

Stayed in a private room. It's great value in a sense, but if doors slamming loudly every 5 seconds would disturb you, probably pass on it. Doesn't work well with me, with the hearing disorder I have is all. Others will probably be alright.

TurkeyRoom was very narrow. There is not space to move. There could be lots of traffic loud at the morning but it could be handled with earplugs.
Location is good, approx ten min to King’s Cross train station. There a free luggage room, you can put your baggage before or after your stay. Desk is online 7/24 and you can do late check-in. We have done at 1.30 am. Stuff are helpful

MalaysiaThe capsule has a curtsin rod so poorly fixed it keeps collapsing. The bunk beds in the women's dorm were more comfortable. But they are tiny and awfully cramped. Feels like a fire hazard as well.
The spaces to chill were plenty and comfortable. But there were limited times they were available. Staff there are very friendly especially Jess from Australia who was a lovely, cheerful and kind soul. I thibk people make an organisation. She certainly made me feel welcome and comfortable. The showers are small but clean. Too small, typical of Central London. Sinks need to be bigger. You can do some self laundry, but the dryer does not work. Please fix it. The breakfast is decent at £5.50.

ChinaMattresses are likely never turned after each guests stay. Very thin and have a permanent dip/sunken bit in the middle.
Great location- couple minutes walk to Kings Cross underground. Buses to Islington and Camden markets on the doorstep. Staff were wonderful and helpful, had good suggestions and travel knowledge themselves.

FranceMore flexible check-in/out policies would be nice. The breakfast buffet also left something to be desired. Even considering the modest price (£5), food choices were rather limited.

United KingdomPower on my bunk didn't work, told reception, they done nothing. Key card didn't work and was told that's just how it is. Not sure why I was given one if it's just pin code only. Reception were a disaster this time. The male in particular is in the wrong job. Please smile at the very minimum when welcoming guests. It goes a long way.
Location, clean, comfortable, could actually choose temperature on shower this time unlike previous occasions staying here

GermanyThe kitchen (the entire -1 floor) was disgusting. There is no fresh air and the facilities are gross. Unfortunately the bathrooms are dirty too, and the room has a green emergency light that bothers you the entire night.

GermanyThe shower water in the girl’s shower was not really warm. It was fine by me as I generally don’t shower that hot but I’d imagine it to be a problem in winter or when you get cold easily. The lockers in the pod-bedroom were very small so that a big suitcase wouldn’t fit. However, they do say that it’s designed for backpackers so it makes sense to have smaller lockers.
The hostel is only 5 minutes from King‘s Cross Station which is perfect. The room and the female bathroom were very clean and I loved the privacy in the pod bed. I especially loved the color-changing light and the ventilation in the pod!

ThailandI did not like how independence of the guests compared to the hostel I have been to. There are not much of activities and I did not know anyone new. The guests are mostly mixed of ages from teenagers to old uncles. Additionally, i highly suggested that you should buy a lock! My usb socket got stolen. Fortunately, i had the cable left. The staffs could do nothing. Thus, it’s not only in this hostel but it can happen anywhere. There are lockers where you can store your belonging safely. Therefore, don’t forget to buy a lock! However, my charger was on my bed; plugged into the socket. Fortunately, again, there is a usb socket. Thus, it’s quite handy when i only had a usb cable left.
The staff were active and helpful! The bed was not that bad but it was comfy as of its value. The location is prime where you are initially connected to major area within steps from bus stops and tubes.

ItalyThe place looks grim, rooms are tiny and stuffy. Not every floor has women's bathroom/showers. The only sink available in the bathrooms is merely enough to wash one hand at a time.
Few minutes walk from Kings Cross/ St. Pancras station, and it's nice to have a grocery store next door. Beds are comfy enough and the pillows won't kill you.
