Excellent hotel. We had a room with a bath and it was phenomenal. Cute gardens just at the back. Went to the spa facilities ( no treatments ) and it was alright, has a good steamroom. Breakfast was great and good cocktails at the bistro bar. Perfect location too

No hot water, only tepid. No shower only bath. Discretionary service charge when checking out of 10%, asked them to remove. I don't agree with this.

Great location, gorgeous quirky hotel with lovely decor. Lovely staff. Food for dinner and breakfast were excellent. Really good spa, love thatvthey allocate a time slot. Best massage and facial I have ever had. Comfy beds.

Paint work around windows poor (and not very clean) though rest of room and bathroom were very clean. Breakfast cooked to a very good standard but not as much choice for the non - cooked breakfast offer. Staff at reception efficient but I'm afraid I felt they all lacked warmth and flare. I enquired after my return home, through your online enquiries form, about a book I may have left behind by mistake and have not had a response. I’m surprised at this lack customer care. I did accept the extra 10% service charge on my bill but on reflection I think I felt I was 'put on the spot' and I probably would have preferred to have just added 10% to my restaurant bill. Having said all this I might possibly book to stay again as the hotel is comfortable and in a good location and the food is good. I hope you will find my comments objective and useful.

We booked the half board option through booking.com but this was misleading. Our confirmation stated that “Breakfast and dinner are included in the room rate” but actually the latter was a £40 discount per person on the evening meal. Essentially this covers one of the more basic choices of starter and a cheaper option from the mains with one side; so forfeiting dessert. Unfortunately this was only explained to us when we received the bill.

The restaurant at this hotel is outstanding; its quality over quantity but everything we chose was cooked to perfection with beautiful flavours and attention to detail. We stayed for three nights and we were half board. We were able to use the spa on two of the three days, for two hours each time. The spa facilities are basic but still very pleasant. All the staff are friendly and professional (with a special thanks to Johann). Value for money is relative. Last year we stayed at a four-star spa hotel in the Austrian Alps. The outlook was spectacular, the food was excellent and the spa facilities were extensive. We paid the same for seven nights there as we did for three nights here.

Rooms are a little tired. Spa is very basic. Only a small pool and a steam room. upholstery on bench seating in bar area is tatty and definitely needs changing, I got bitten sat there.

Great location. Right in centre of Chipping Campden where you experience quintessential Cotswolds. Lots of lovely places to go out to eat and drink.

Spa pool small but pleasant. We weren’t told that you had to book your two hour slot until we’d braved weather walking through the garden to the spa. Assistant did phone us in our room once someone left so we got an hour.

Food very good. Attic room well furnished in Japanese style. Fun to experience. Bit tricky negotiating several low beams. Massage very good.

Minor things. Reception service was ok but an offer of taking bags to room when ready would have been nice. Small maintenance items, light controls were not working brilliantly, the TV was not attached to the stand properly and damaging the wall, the TV in the bathroom didn’t work and the light fittings above the lovely bath had bulbs missing and didn’t function. Lovely hotel but these finer points would make it even better.

The breakfast was great, the room was great and the hotel facilities were great. I would highly recommend the hotel and the location in Chipping Campden is fantastic.

I found communication by phone and email frustrating. Phones and emails not answered, and messages not responded to. Booking for the meal on New Years Eve was a classical example, I could not access your 'spread sheet' for our choice on the menu and sent an email, I then tried to discuss it on booking in, and was told that it was all sorted. On the evening in question, we had to ask for champagne as it was not offered to us, or the canopies were not received at all, and then when our desserts arrived, we both received different desserts to those chosen. We also had a bit of a drama on the morning of our first breakfast, we arrived in the dining room about 9.50 - 9.55 to be told that breakfast was finished. I distinctly remember asking a team member as we were retiring, what time breakfast was and was told that it finished at 11.00. We were served breakfast. Though my wife and I both felt that this was done reluctantly and when we asked for toast, that was not available. On New Years Day we were leaving the dining area after our breakfast, and several people were arriving for breakfast, and they were not challenged about the time, even though it was after 10.00. I realise that people were probably later to bed and this was considered as extenuating circumstances. This I totally accept and agree with. The reason I mention this 'drama', is that I felt like I was a naughty boy and was embarrassed as the situation was not handled very discreetly in front of the other diners. I will also hold up my hands an admit that I read a small slip of paper that I was given when booking in. The only problem about reading the slip was that I was back home after our stay in your hotel, and it had the time of breakfast on the paper. Whilst I stand guilty of not reading the slip at the time and apologise for that.

Our room exceeded our expectations and was kept exceptionally clean. My wife had a very enjoyable treatment in the Spa which she rated very highly. The grounds looked lovely, though the current weather and time of year probably did not do them justice.
