Good place....bad experience....not sure if staff could have sorted the problem though.

I had several rooms next to me occupied by teenage/20's idiots, that were unbearably loud to 3am. Thus a terrible night's sleep :-(

Hotelwas great and I loved the bath.

The noise from the bar next door, it was v loud and didn't finish till 2am, we had room 102 which was like being in the pub.

Right on the main street, close to many bars, restaurants and just a few min to city centre for all the shops. Breakfast was excellent.

The room was a bit noisy the windows rattled - they had secondary glazing over the sash windows which were not very well fixed. The included breakfast was ok, we went down at the end of service and I think by then the food had been sat for a couple of hours, soggy hash browns and bullet fried eggs! The coffee in the jug was clearly instant coffee The area is a little rough, there were youngsters doing wheelies down the middle of the road regarxless of pedestrians or cars and people were openly supplying drugs on the street and also in the pub!

The room was an excellent price so I didn't expect 4 star! The room was a little tired but none the less quite clean. The bed was extremely comfy. Location was perfect for popping over the road for a pint at 2 Wetherspoons!

Very very hot, its like the central heating is jammed on full. Its in a very noisy location, expect noise on a weekend until after 2 am. So if you are a light sleeper, this is probably not the place for you

Nice Bed - Value for Money. Its in a very central location and only 2 mins walk to the train station and bars and restaurants. The breakfast was spot on also.

A no frills hotel with an ideal location as a bed for the night

Just that it was a little rough around the edges but it's an old building so it's to be expected. Maybe the curtains could've been rehung and the odd lick of paint here and there but all in all not bad for the price.

The location was ideal as it was literally 2 mins from the station and there was a vast selection of bars and restaurants on Botchergate (the road the hotel was on). The room itself was huge, good supply of tea and coffee and towels too. Good price for a budget hotel

The noise. I didn't expect it to be single glazing! Was far too loud

We had noise issues as in, single glazing right at the front where all the bars, John that was on reception, was able to get me and my daughter a quieter room.

With the great location right in the centre of town comes a huge problem The noise at night from the surrounding bars is almost deafening, you are not getting any sleep until they empty and go home at 01.30 or 02.30 on the night the clocks change... After that all is well Please please get double glazed windows on street side rooms in place of old sash windows

Great location, huge room, very comfortable bed

Nothing really bad but for 10 quid it would have been nice to have had a persoally cooked breakfast.

This hotel was in the centre of town so a brilliant location for anybody visiting for tourist reasons. The building itself was full of character with a lot of windy corridors in which I got a little bit lost. I had a single room which was not very big but adequate for a single guy and it was dog friendly which is a big plus for me. The room had a bath which is unusual and very welcome. The downstairs rooms had the potential to be very good . The dining room was in two parts and I was in the dog friendly partner which was the better one and full of character with an interesting fireplace and ceilings . I paid for breakfast but it wasn't brilliant with a buffet style setup with scrambled eggs, sausages, etc. Already prepared . I was vegetarian and they could prepare a vegetarian option but I would have to wait so I didn't . It was not a bad breakfast but if it was not so early in the morning I would have gone outside and found a cafe. There is a grand piano in in the ground floor and I think this hotel has the potential to be an interesting venue in its own right? And I would imagine the owners. I'll probably looking to improve it as they go along. All in all a good experience and I could not complain about the value for money, the dog friendliness and the bath that was available, which I think would be very hard to find another locations for the price.
