The County is more like a B&B than an hotel but it suited my purpose of a 2 night stopover very well

The County doesn't do evening meals and there is apparently a dearth of places to eat in the evening in Selkirk. They compensate for this by providing facilities in a lounge area for guests to bring in food from the various takeaways nearby and there is actually one very good little restaurant right next door! The food there was very good and not expensive for the quality. I had 2 courses and a large glass of wine for £30 including a tip.

Oliver, who was on reception when I arrived and served me breakfast was friendly and obliging and created a very relaxed atmosphere. The breakfasts were well cooked and presented. Absolutely nothing to complain about!

A sign on check out to indicate what to do with keys might be nice (just posted through the letterbox in the end). Blinds on the street-side windows would be nice to cut out some of the street lights.

Lovely breakfast, nice lounge space, relaxed and pleasant welcome. Would like to come back at some point.

A friendly, no-frills welcome. It was clean, the shower worked well and we were given a key to come and go as we pleased. Easy check-in and check-out with no waiting around. I’d stay there again if in the area!

We were slightly disappointed in Selkirk. Many of the shops and restaurants were closed.

The breakfast was excellent. Freshly cooked to order and beautifully presented.

The single room had a bad smell upon arrival and needed the carpets vacuumed. The sink in the single (202) was loose on the wall and the toilet seat in the double (201) was loose, all easy fixes. There were several cobwebs in the corners of the ceilings. We ushered a small spider outside.

The double room was fresh and clean upon arrival. With unseasonably hot weather, we were glad that fans were available for each room upon request. The rooms were cozy and nicely decorated. The staff were courteous and the breakfast was very good. The private, off-street parking was accessible and spacious. There are a variety of restaurants in Selkirk from which to choose, as well as numerous attractions within easy driving distance.

I should have read current reviews, I was misled by info online describing it as having two restaurants when in fact it was only a b&b and not the cozy coaching inn I was expecting . There were cereals, yogurt, toast and preserves for a light breakfast at the same price as the full cooked meal. Limited selection for anyone not wanting cooked food. ie.:- no fruit, no bread rolls and no meats or cheese.

Central location, onsite parking. Excellent quality cooked breakfast. Pleasant staff. Generous supply of tea and coffee in the room. Future guests would be advised to make reservations in advance if they want to eat out. The three restaurants in town get very busy and there is one tiny pub.

    N/a.

Location. Selkirk is a lovely place to stay. The hotel is old but looked after. Family run and although there’s no restaurant they do allow guests to bring food in from the local takeaways (the chippy is great, as is the Taste of Spice). Room was spacious and clean. Smart tv meant we could watch netflix. Staff were friendly and attentive.
