Lovely, traditional Lake District hotel, set in immaculate grounds with paths alongside Lake Windermere. A really warm welcome from happy, friendly staff who can't do enough for you. Beautiful spotless room, tasty hot breakfast with lots of choices. There's nothing to not like about this gem! My little dog was made very welcome and was provided with treat box containing a ball, poop bags and a tub of treats which he loved. The treats contained ingredients to aid relaxation at bedtime - so thoughtful! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Lovely room with beautiful views. Hotel is in a very scenic setting and staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay, always going above and beyond to make our stay special. The breakfast was very nice with plenty of choice and the lounge and bar are nice to use in an evening.

Food was limited and the quality was disappointing. Dinner on a Sunday night was limited to a bar snack or a five course dinner . Some proper choice would have been nice

There was nothing to dislike about my comfortable stay because it was so well priced with no hidden surprises.

Beautiful hotel and well kept gardens and grounds with views over Lake Windermere. Good food served on an evening and then cooked and continental breakfast. Cosy, well stocked bar on an evening with lovely furnishings and a real log fire with leather and velvet seating. Reception area comfortable lounge to read the daily newspapers after breakfast. Then a walk down to the lake from the grounds. Staff approachable, professional and kind. Spacious, warm and clean room with beautiful view. Would love to stay again and enjoy the outdoor seating area overlooking the lake when the weather improves. Dog friendly but mindful of other guests.

Didn’t like the interconnecting door to the room next door , we could hear conversations that were being had in the room next door

The hotel as a whole , the location was brilliant right by the lake , the view from our room was lovely with views of the lake , the cleanliness was of a very high standard , the breakfast was lovely , friendly staff .

Our first visit to the lake the location of the hotel was perfect , beautiful lakeside room with lots of little extras , cosy lounge areas with lit fires to sit and relax and take in the beautiful views of the lake , staff were so friendly and helpful , dinner was superb and served in an intimate dining area .. ‘fine dining ‘ and excellent value . Would definitely return again ..

disappointment was breakfast ie lack of variety of breads ,food wasn't very hot ,grilled tomato hardly cooked at all and fried egg over cooked

We stayed on Tuesday 6th Feb for one night wished it could have been for longer ,it was amazing we were upgraded to the four poster room ,the decor was outstanding, the bed was Huge and very comfortable as were the pillows, tea coffee and hot chocolate provided plus bottled water biscuits and sweets , the bathroom was also excellent with beautiful fluffy towels and face clothes plus lovely toiletries, the staff were very helpful and friendly ,our only disappointment was breakfast ie lack of variety of breads ,food wasn't very hot ,grilled tomato hardly cooked at all and fried egg over cooked , the grounds, garden ect were beautifully maintained and the walk down to the lake not to be missed , we would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends ,and will without doubt visit again .many thanks .

We couldn't find the bar! Would be good if staff tell you where everything is on arrival.

dark long walkway to the main road for public transport. The distance is not an issue but very poorly lit at night when returning

The shower drained a bit slowly than what I was used to so I checked the drain and saw that hair (from the previous occupant I assume) was partially blocking it. Also, I wasn't sure where it was coming from but walking up to the hotel there was a distinct foul smell but you can't smell it once you're inside.

The staff were very lovely and I got a free room upgrade! Even when I had checked out they let me stay in the lounge while I waited to go to the event I came up for and they offered me tea/coffee. I had a nice view and the beds weren't too soft which I always find is a problem in other hotels. It's also very close to bus stops which is handy.

We were travelling with a 4 month old baby. To go to the resteraunt or bar you had to walk outside which wasn’t ideal especially in winter. There was no lift to the first floor. There was confusion about when we could book for dinner.

The property was clean and comfy, the room was spacious and the staff went above and beyond to ensure we were looked after and enjoying our stay.

Walking from the main building to the bar and dining area. Undercover and as always in the lakes its raining. Small observation walk in showers would be best, as some of us struggle climbing into a bath.
