Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomWe felt welcomed as soon as we arrived. Our room had been upgraded and it was beautiful. The decor of the house and rooms is so lovely, we enjoyed looking around. We walked down the drive to the road and back up through the back lane. The countryside is stunning and so peaceful.

United KingdomThe only criticism would be the noise when cleaning down after restaurant service.
The artwork, the situation and the food.

United KingdomThere are two road bridges that are very narrow on the approach to the hotel. As usual with Scottish country roads.....expect the unexpected and you will not be disappointed. Just drift along the curves and don't be tempted to push your luck!
What is there not to like? It's absolutely beautiful. We loved the tennis courts(one normal, one kids size), the apiary, the garden, the road in via mature woodland was magnificent. The welcome was spectacular and very friendly(at last Scots got this right....Cromlix should teach the rest of Scotland how to do this!), loved the scented candle smell at reception; you can buy them there too, we even got some Granny Erskine shortbread in the room, lovely tea/coffee and the wife loved the crisps(she even ate mine!). The room and entire hotel is spectacularly well decorated. There are lovely quirks, e.g. the old fashioned phone and wardrobes. It has a beautiful place to eat and watch the gardens. If you wanted a smart hotel, a friendly reception, great food and a nice wee dram....this is thee place to stay. You get what you pay for and Cromlix never fails to deliver. FANTASTIC.

United KingdomI’m not sure why it has a 5 star rating. Only one restaurant, and the only thing to do when we visited in February was to play billiards. I didn’t like how you could see the chefs making your food and using their fingers to plate the food, if it’s 5 star at least use tongs to pick up the bacon!!!
Staff very friendly and professional. Greeted at the front door with glass of Prosecco. Lovely spacious bedroom and huge bathroom, we had a view of the driveway as you approached the property. Very quiet location.

United KingdomNot having enough time there due to the storm - such a pity as I would have loved to explore the grounds again!
We had stayed at the Cromlix before but I knew they had a refurb so was looking forward to the new décor. It didn't disappoint! We arrived after a long drive (getting stuck in a storm), we were welcomed by lovely staff who took care of everything (even parking my car for me which was a lovely touch) and sat us down with some bubbly whilst we checked in. We were late for dinner and our table was held for us knowing the trouble we had had getting there. Our room was amazing - really inspired décor - still lovely and Scottish but with a modern twist! The bed was super comfy and the facilities were great! Especially loved the nice touch of grannies shortbread as a welcome treat! When we did go for our meal we were welcomed and not rushed even though we were late! We had the most amazing dinner there, one of the best Cote du Boeuf I have eaten before! Breakfast the next day was equally outstanding and we were just sad we had only booked for one night!

United KingdomWe had cocktails which were not the best , I had a mojoto I watched the young guy make it he never bashed the mint or added sugar so was very bitter , they gave my friend wrong cocktail also. At meal the young man explaining all the cheese was starting to bore me as he went on so long , explained about 12 + cheeses then only got choice of 5 and it literally was a slither of cheese
Amazing overnight stay , felt totally pampered , it snowed the night we arrived was so magical cosied up to the endless log fires they had , beautifully decorated for Christmas . We had a beautiful Christmas tree in our bedroom , staff sprayed our pillows at bedtime with lavender and left handmade truffles and shortbread made from Andy Murrays grans receipe . Our meal was lovely, I had smoked Trout to start never tasted anything so delicious, I then had steak and pepper sauce also beautiful then the cheese board . Breakfast next morning was delicious, lots of choice . Staff so attentive and lovely, there was a lady celebrating her 90th birthday at next table , she was cold staff put a blanket around her. It's all these lovely wee touches that makes this place so special. Hoping to return next December
