I think someone else commented that they weren't too happy with the evening meal. Our experience was similar. My wife only had soup which she was very pleased with. I had the burger which was only just edible and definitely not worth the asking price. Certainly wouldn't recommend it to other guests.

Whole place was clean and well presented. Lovely breakfast and very good service.

No expelair ( fan to suck out steam) in bathroom - both my kids rooms had working versions. Toilet roll holders and towel holders were missing - weird to just find loo roll propped behind the toilet. The dining room - one window was infested with ants - the flying type as well as worker ones

Staff from reception, housekeeping, gym , breakfast, dinner were all 10/10 - best staff group I've seen in all my travels. All warm friendly and helpful

Breakfast buffet was just about warm but plates cold, resulting in a barely warm breakfast. Bathroom has no shelf to put toiletries, no toilet roll holder. Dim bulb over sink. Needs a grab rail to safely use shower. Used towels folded up and put on bed, mystifying. All these tiny things, easily put right, make a big difference to the experience.

Staff are good. The hotel grounds are stunning. Everything else was OK when it could have easily been good/excellent. Happy to stay there again as the basics are all there but it won't suit the fussy.

The hotel could really benefit from a refurbishment. Very worn, stained carpets. The poor breakfast staff were rushed off their feet as there didn't seem to be many staff on hand. A lovely hotel but in desperate need of upgrading.

The room was tired and needed freshening up. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, could feel the springs through the bedding. No air conditioning. No sound proofing, might as well have been in the room above as could clearly hear everything.

The setting of the hotel is peaceful and relaxing. Good value for money.

no plug in basin and took ages for hot water to come through, which was a waste of water - no shelf in shower for soap, etc.

Quiet location - beautiful grounds - very large, comfortable room (room 37 in grey lodge building) - lots of power points - good parking - friendly staff

Lack of staff. Not being given a towel for the spa area. Lack of atmosphere in the bar/restaurant area. Having to walk down steps with a plate full of hot breakfast food back to the dining area. Having to walk outside of the main building to access the spa and some of the rooms. No flow to the whole building

Small things. The window frames in the room need attention; and the staff, whilst excellent, seemed a little less happy with life than previously.

We’ve stayed several times and on this occasion particularly liked the beautiful setting and the excellent room.

On arrival we discovered the hotel was in receivership. There was a shortage of staff available. Poor choice for evening meal & dishes were misleadingly named ie chicken & duck terrine was just supermarket chicken pate. Chips had to be sent back as they were overcooked. Restaurant staff at dinner & breakfast were abrupt.

Room was good as we were upgraded. Breakfast was good quality & well cooked. Spa facilities were good & clean. Receptionist was very helpful & spa attendants were friendly.

Cooked breakfast was a bit small.

Decent overall stay. Room wasn't ready and had to wait 40 mins over check in time other than that a decent stay in a beautiful setting.

we got married here 10 years ago and stayed in the honeymoon suite, due to the venue needing to alter the rooms we were given the honeymoon suite again which was a lovely upgrade

The hotel in general just needs a bit of TLC. Some parts need a bit of paint or just modernising in general. No bath tub which I would have liked but that's just a personal thing of mine. Lastly the walls are a little thin, whilst it's not a party resort, I could hear people walking up the stairs etc which just meant I was disturbed in the late evening and morning a touch. Perhaps that was just the position of my room though.

The lady on reception was incredible helpful and really accomodating especially knowing I was travelling on my own, she made me feel very secure 😊 all the staff in general though were really welcoming and really lovely!!!! The pool and jacuzzi are nice too, the pool is a lovely temperature. The grounds around are beautiful too! It really did feel like a restful break 😊
