How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

There were blue stains on the bedding, the shower looked like it wasn't very clean and the water was yellow, when using the facilities, queuing for a towel, all staff seemed to dissappear.
The facilities and overall look were beautiful, it was in a nice area, relaxed.

The rooms are a bit dated, but comfortable enough for a night or two.
Plenty of parking, everything laid out quite well, breakfast was good enough, full English and continental, fresh fruit.

The pool area was hot, and the hottub was too hot. Breakfast was a letdown, tiny orange juice glasses. Food was inexpensive.
The ladies on reception were exceptional. Very friendly and welcoming with an air of professionalism.

Gym and pool were quite dirty. The room had no sound proofing so could hear EVERYTHING from the rooms (and bathrooms) around us. The breakfast was also quite poor for the amount it cost.
Lovely location, had all the amenities. Very handy having a bar and restaurant on the property. Tennis court and equiptment were free to use so that was great.

The upstairs floorboards were noisy. Given the price paid, still worth it
The spa was great, atmospheric and clean. The Gym looked extensive. The room was all we needed. The bed was really comfortable.

Looking quite run down needs lots of upgrades. Room was very basic and no toiletries, breakfast was basic what we had was good but very little choice it felt very underwhelming . We have been staying here for a number of years as a base to visit family and it’s a shame to see how it has gone downhill

Rooms/furniture but dated but didn’t impact our stay.
Location and facilities, gym and poll excellent. Room clean and easy to access. Lovely surrounding views, if we had more time would have gone on a walk. Food in bar gorgeous. Breakfast nice - I would have like a fresh fruit salad - not available, all in all staff very approachable and friendly. Fab stay will return.

The Hotel is in need of significant refurbishment. Not withstanding that its a very old, characterful building, full of charm, carpets are worn, decor is questionable and it just looks tired. The first room we were taken to was unfit for purpose with mould on the walls and the bed base...it was nothing shy of filthy . The hotel acknowledged this and moved us to a more suitable room.
The location is good. The setting is lovely. The staff were friendly and accommodating

The accmodation is very rundown …a lot of things could be improved with very little money and work But there’s a lot that requires attention…generally the place looks very uncared for…With a bit of investment this could be a lovely place…Staff are very nice but they can only work with what they got unfortunately
Location is very good …feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere but 10 minutes drive and you’re into a place called Caerleon, Newport …lots of pubs etc and most in easy walking distance of each other

The hot tub could be a little warmer.
Lovely location for a weekend getaway. Really nice room, spacious and functional. Good breakfast, good restaurant, nice bar to relax in. Staff were friendly and professional.

The room was budget and therefore not in the main hotel, not far, just up behind the main building. It was in need of a few little tweaks like the top of the tap insert coming off but nothing too bad. It was clean and comfortable.
We had to cancel one of our nights stay as we had a family member taken to hospital. The staff were very accommodating.
