It doesn’t seem fair to criticise anything because we enjoyed ourselves so much,-but softer pillows would have been nice

The beautiful setting and building surrounded by lovely gardens,-the bedroom with beamed ceiling and the generous choice at breakfast- a bar/ restaurant , and there was even a barn cinema

Why didn’t the radiators in our room turn on/0ff? Lack of accessible plugs for charging phones? Piped breakfast music. Accommodation carpets outside rooms…quite dirty.. and of course TERRIBLE internet!

Setting, building, garden, cinema, furnishings, restaurant staff…

Squeaky bedroom door (West Wing room 23) and no non-dairy alternatives with tea and coffee facilities in the room, although the restaurant was happy to provide some.

The setting is amazing, staff friendly and helpful and a good range of food available on site.

I found the constant locking and unlocking of doors for the WC/toilet and shower room tiresome, fighting the door closing mechanism all the time. I had expected a single 'bathroom', not two locked doors. And the room itself was too hot. I asked for the radiator to be turned down. Still very warm, from solar gain on the roof.

The room facing over the Great Courtyard was in a wonderful position and the staff on reception were very friendly and helpful when I found I had left mu charger plug behind. As were the staff in The White Hart at breakfast. And the gardens were beautiful, early cherry trees and magnolia in bloom.

    Nothing nothing in particular.

The staff were very welcoming and cheerful. Room was a little smaller than anticipated but comfortable. Breakfast was ok, scramble egg rather over cooked but otherwise fine. Location was ideal for what we wanted. Added bonus was going to the Barn Cinema.

Unfortunately my room was connected to another room. The person in that room was doing an awful amount of coughing during the night which disturbed my sleep. The tea water was in one of those large flasks which l find does not retain its heat. Plus on the second morning it had previously had coffe in it as l could taste it.

We ate in the morning breakfast was excellent. But would have liked some fresh fruit. Had evening meal both evenings of our stay and the standard of the food and presentation was excellent. Building was beautiful. As was my room.

The hand basin in the bathroom was unhygienic, faulty and even though I reported it to the reception nothing was done to solve it. The sink would not drain properly as it was blocked. Also the sink fitment was poorly maintained as the water ran away when closed. This really was unsatisfactory.

Breakfast and evening meal were excellent. The room was tired but adequate.

Small TV and channels restricted to BBC only. Had to walk out in the rain to reach breakfast.

The room was very hot in the night and in the sunshine in the morning and although we had the windows open as far as we could tell there was no way for us to control the heating. The wine choice in the restaurant was disappointing.

We liked the room and the location, check in was friendly and helpful. We liked having access to the beautiful gardens and the view over the courtyard. The breakfast offered a good choice and was hot and tasty. We enjoyed the food at dinner at the restaurant which was very good and the service was also very good.

Toilet cistern made loud noises when refilling - but is a listed building! Rooms could do with a spring clean, but basics clean. Temperature control on one radiator not working - reported and moved room.

Great location, in the heart of a country estate. Listed gardens and deer park you could walk around for free as a guest. Good, free to guests, nearby car park. Ample buffet style hot and/or cold breakfast in adjoining pub. Comfortable beds and clean linen. Staff very welcoming and helpful - moved one room when too hot. On site cinema, pub and tearoom. Free Wi-Fi.

Whilst we accept the nature of the listed building, as usual the booking.com photos bore no resemblance to the room. We had 2 windows one overlooking a flat roof with discarded wooden pallets, the other over looking multiple dumper bins. There was no extractor fan in the shower room, the shower curtain was stained and the radiator in the bedroom chugged, glugged and rattled all night. Although the radiator was switched off, it remained piping hot all night in a very ‘cosy’ room. Would consider including the upgrade cost for something better for a one-nighter. Breakfast was very good.

Wonderful period property, lovely location and great staff.

We appreciated the low price for our room with separate private loo and bathroom, but the heavy doors on these and our bedroom make a bit of noise in the middle of the night!

Our room was very comfortable with a lovely wide bed. Breakfast was plentiful and good, especially the delicious yogurt and berry compote. The location is wonderful - the medieval Hall is imposing and the gardens surrounding it are beautiful. Staff were all friendly and helpful.
