The apartment was a little in need of renovation and entrance hall was shoddy. Someone had left a muddy doggy towel draped over the radiator in the hall and the carpet was dirty. We lacked a chopping board in the kitchen and there was no wine bottle opener so I couldn't call it fully equipped. The bar had no ice for the duration of our 3 day stay.

The apartment was an exceptional size and had plenty of bedroom space, good parking facilities, and handy for keswick. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

The hotel is very tired and needs a complete makeover. The housekeeping is very poor. There was a very thick layer of dust and fluff beside the bed and the unit and a thick layer of dust on the wall. It all appears to have been surface cleaned only. Our room was classed as a Superior Double - but was pretty basic with poor quality curtains, bedding and soft furnishings. The bed was big, but very hard. The tea tray contained a few tea bags, coffee sachets, 4 milk capsules and 1 packet of 2 biscuits. The rooms are also not automatically "serviced" on a daily basis. Unfortunately we were quite disappointed with The Derwentwater Hotel.

Overall we enjoyed our stay and the location was great. The food and staff were very good.

No money is being invested to make the building more modern. The building has a Blackpool charm, old and dusty. The smallest TV and the rooms have no curtains - either it's dark or everyone can see you. Suddenly you have to pay £5 per night for parking. You find out when you get there - nice surprise.

I like the glass annex, the food from the pub is freshly prepared and delicious. A quiet location with its own outdoor area and its own little beach/access to the lake. Perfect for traveling with dogs.

The hotel was very hot. It was unbearable to sleep on a night-time. We had our heating turned off and window open ajar. (We were on the side of the road) The beds were also very hard and lumpy. It's a shame to see not much has been done to the decor after many years of visiting. The hotel still looks tired. Wallpaper is peeling of the wall in the dining hall, paint of doors are chipped and need another lick of paint. But saying that, it's just somewhere to lay our heads, we are out most of the day.

We love the location of the hotel, which is why we go back year after year. The breakfast choice is amazing and it's always hot and fresh, perfect for a long day of walking. The staff are friendly.

This time round the bathroom and kitchen wasn't as clean as our last visit. The bedding and towels were clean, though, but the rest of the apartment was not as clean as our last visit.

It is the 2nd time we have stayed at the hotel. The staff are wonderful. The receptionist is warm and inviting and an asset to the company. Easy access to the surrounding area and all in all decent accommodation.

The new parking scheme gets a 'thumbs down' from me. The parking used to be free; now one has to mess about with dreaded apps! Not everyone has or wants a mobile phone and some of us come to the lakes to get away from technology. In any case, the wifi signal is very poor here. The tv didn't work but then I'm not too bothered about tv but other guests might be. There wasn't a mat in the shower so I was a bit worried about slipping so it was a good job there were grab handles on the bath. Another pointer for Derwentwater Hotel to know is that booking.com absolutely hound/spam the life out of guests. I received at least one e-mail a day from them from the point of booking and throughout cajoling me to upgrade and it was really annoying. Another guest I spoke with felt exactly the same. It would be great if it was possible to book directly with the hotel in future. Again, less technology and more relaxation is what a holiday is about for me.

The location of the hotel is excellent and that is why I am a returning customer. The surrounding gardens and views are excellent. The hotel's breakfast is very good and I would recommend it. The rooms were heated, clean and adequate. Full marks for having a lift - a great shout when you have heavy bags. The reception staff are very nice. The hotel offers plenty of space for people to sit and relax. The hotel is close to the walking activities that I came to do.

The room was very cold when we got there so I turned all the radiators up only to be too hot! The bathroom was basic but could have done with a bit of tlc as the flooring was old. We couldn’t get the tv to work properly it looked like you could access Netflix but you couldn’t log in. I tried to call reception but no answer to check either so left it.

We stayed in the apartment side of the hotel which looked like a big old house. The apartment was very spacious and I loved the view from the lounge although we couldn’t see the lake. The bed was very comfortable after a days walking slept no problem at all!

The windows in our room were rather draughty, there was a crack in the wash basin and our bed was a bit creaky.

The location suited us for our stay - close to Keswick centre and easy walks around the Hotel. Our room (250) had a pleasant view and we were close to our friends who were also staying at the Hotel. At breakfast there was a varied choice, and every one was happy and full!

Extremely squeaky old floor boards throughout. We heard everything from above and people below us probably had the same. Reception staff could do with basic training when welcoming guests and when they leave. Not really fussed and don’t give you breakfast times, suggestions etc The main bar area and conservatory is just lacking any character, atmosphere or care taken. While it’s great that rooms are dog friendly there are visible large stains on the floor, rooms are very clean but this wasn’t ideal.

Very dog friendly. Amazing location. I can imagine on a sunny day the gardens would be lovely but our stay was a washout with rain. Very good breakfast albeit only one staff member and kept running out of things like plates.
