It's an old building and some of the facilities are also quite worn, but still comfortable and usable. The price was still very good taking this into account. We had a little trouble with the radiators in the room being permanently on, which made it very warm especially at night and it is only April - hopefully this will be sorted before the summer guests arrived. These things do happen in older buildings, so just something to be aware of when booking.

Stunning building with a great size, comfortable room. The staff were super friendly and helpful. This was our first holiday with our baby and they made us feel very welcome. The grounds are lovely for walking in and there are lots of places to visit nearby. The food in the restaurant is delicious. I also had a great massage in the on site beauty salon.

Rooms could do with a freshen up and some attention to detail. Light bulb missing, rug a little tread bare.. But for the price can't complain.

The location was amazing and the grounds were beautiful. The reception staff were very welcoming and friendly. The room although a bit dated was clean and great value for money. Would stay again without a doubt.

Large bathroom but no heating , heated towel rail not working. Very little space around the sink to put toiletries etc. No curtains or screen for shower so water spilled out onto the tiles and the floor tiles stayed wet during our two day stay.

Warm, spacious room, big comfortable bed, lots of drawer space. Iron and ironing board very useful. Lovely quiet surroundings, overlooking a large pond. Plenty of parking space.

Beautiful building, lovely grounds. Big rooms, nice showers, some wonderful decor. Lovely to wake up to the sounds of birds. Nice breakfast in a bright, airy room with views of the grounds, good parking. Been here several times before and will return.

Unfortunately the Afternoon tea was not good this time. We booked because last time we stayed it was excellent. The bread was not fresh, the cakes were ordinary, shop bought and not homemade. (we took them to feed the squirrels) The scones were good. We were not offered more tea and the waiter didn't check on us even once. Prices were up since last month. I showed the bar manager the photos of the food we took last time and he was the difference. He refunded us £12 although we didn't ask. Different chef apparently. We won't be having tea there again!

We asked for the same room we stayed in last time and they allocated it to us. So we were very comfortable and had a lovely stay.

Twin beds were very narrow and soft. They also moved very easily if leant against causing loss of balance.

Great location and views. Walk up to the Donington Castle remains was very enjoyable. Didn't have the opportunity to try the restaurant or bar.

Room cleanliness wasn't great and as there were a few of us staying at various locations in the hotel, this was a recurring theme as all of us commented on differing levels of cleanliness. The outside lighting is awful for when it's dark, we had to use torches on our phones to see where we were going, more lighting is needed, especially for safety when wallking from the main building to the suites at the very end of the road.

Particular thanks to Lachlan and Dawn who were exceptionally helpful and went above and beyond. Catering for my daughter with Coeliac with some of the other members of staff wasn't the best, however, Dawn made sure she had a freshly prepared meal. We stayed in a Summer House room which was right next to the hotel. Breakfast was also excellent.

Not that I didn’t like just that it is a little dated, isn’t off putting though

I didn’t expect such beautiful surroundings, it could maybe do with a little updating but that certainly wouldn’t put me off staying again. Also very happy with the breakfast. The staff were all so friendly and ever so helpful😊
