Not being able to pay the outstanding bill at check-out rather than having to pay for dinner separately. Before dinner we put out a clean the room sign but it was still there on our return, no one having attended to the room.

We were well looked after and enjoyed the informal atmosphere. There was a good choice at breakfast and the porridge was excellent.

Great- Everything was lovely about the hotel the only down fall was on the first night I could hear everything from the adjoining rooms. The guests in those rooms were so loud one was having a conversation at 5:30am and I could hear everything. The banging around their room I couldn’t understand because looking at my room I couldn’t understand how they could be that loud. The plus side was I mentioned it in passing when ordering lunch and the lady I spoke with went to the guest support person and she came to speak to us to apologise. Even though I know it wasn’t the hotel’s fault I appreciated that they cared. The second night was fab as the noisy guests left and the spa is fantastic!!

Hotel was a little bit dated. Cleanliness wasn't the best. There was a foot print on my pillow and some areas need a good dusting, not just in our room but downstairs toilets. Limited vegan options in the restaurant so went elsewhere to eat. Rooms a bit expensive

Swimming pool and spa areas were lovely. Good effort was made to provide vegan food for us at the event that we attended even though they forgot non dairy milk for tea and coffee. Appreciated the food though.. The room was comfortable with air conditioning

The cocktails were not a great success, but when we complained the bar staff handled the complaint very well.

The spa in this hotel is one of the nicest, most spacious and comfortable I have experienced. It's the reason we keep going back. The food is OK, but perhaps not the fine dining that it aspires to. Breakfast was pretty good.

That by booking through 'Booking.com' we couldn't put meals and drinks on the tab and pay at check-out. Should have been told this at the outset. Frustrating to have to carry payment methods around. Meals, snacks and drinks I felt to be overpriced. The small dining room was in need of maintenance - curtains/blinds not closing, stains on ceiling tiles, corners of wall paper turning up but the staff made every effort to make the room feel Christmassy. Despite all the best efforts from the staff, definitely got the feeling that because of the big event in the main dining room, we were not as important or valued.

Rooms were clean and comfy. Facilities were excellent. Spa area was excellent, clean and fresh. Staff very informative and attentive, sometimes too attentive! Didn't eat in the evening in the main restaurant as there was a big function so relegated to small dining room. Beautiful flowers and Christmas decorations. Breakfast was self service, all freshly prepared, nothing outstanding

the internet connection and provided WIFI there was beyond bad. I was there for work which made it very difficult as I could not get a decent enough connection to work in my room and the internet at the bar still wasn't great. Soft drinks were also very expensive.

Fantastic spa facilities and restaurant / bar area. Room was large and clean and very comfy.

WIFI Poor In Room Staff at reception and Bar commented that because I had booked through booking.com that I couldn't credit anything to my room which would have allowed for me to pay on check out and made things easier. Not sure why booking through a third party should affect anything?!

Wedding barn Breakfast

We were here to attend a family wedding and had travelled from the North East of England. The wedding held in the new barn was excellent in every aspect. Staff on duty there were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Wedding went without a hitch. However, we were very disappointed with our room in tge hotel. The bathroom was very tired. Panels falling off and plaster was dropping off the wall. Overall tge room cleanliness was not up to our standard.
