Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe fire alarm did wake us up about 8.30am not sure why it went off. Also the rainwater from drain dropped on the roof below our room which was very noisy. Neither of these points negatively affected our stay.
Room was very clean and spacious with a lovely bath. All the staff were very friendly

AustraliaNo fresh milk offered for tea and coffee in the room (only tiny little UHT milk cups available) No biscuits (given it’s such a grand old hotel with lovely big rooms it was would be a nice touch) No refrigerator. Three staff members loudly nattering between themselves at the entrance to the restaurant while everyone was eating breakfast. Staff in the bar area weren’t very friendly or just not there. We waited 15 mins for someone to arrive to order drinks and bar snacks at 7pm. We had to go reception twice to ask if someone could come to the bar so we could order
Lovely building. Comfortable bed and quality linen. Great breakfast.

United KingdomI ordered a champagne bucket with ice and 2 glasses to be delivered to the room. I waited 30 minutes and then went down yo the bar. I waited exactly 18 minutes for a member of staff to come to serve me. Then, at 10-45pm, I realised that there was no sugar in the room to have a cup of tea, so again called reception. I never received the sugar. I had to go reception to get it myself. Beautiful hotel that we have stayed at 4 times previously. This time, though, was the worst customer service that we have experienced. Sorry, Duke of Cornwall, but you need to step up!
The location of the hotel is excellent. Central to bars, restaurants, and sea front. Lovely Victorian building with lots of history.

United KingdomThe smell, it has a musty smells throughout particularly the bedrooms. I cut my finger on the screws attaching the bath side were rusty and stuck out. Receptionist didn’t take much notice.
Beautiful old hotel, rooms larger than other hotels. It was cosy and breakfast was good even though they ran out of coffee.

United KingdomThe lift was very slow due to the housekeeping staff having to hog it for cleaning. Maybe worth getting a trolly for each floor, just saying.

United StatesI did wake up to some road noise, but you expect that being close to the town. This is a historic hotel with a lot of quirks. My room had not been upgraded but was charming.
The property is central in Plymouth. There was a grassy area close by which was convenient to walk my dog. The hotel is grand with faded glory and flowery wallpaper. My room was large with a sitting room and full bathroom. The staff were friendly and professional.

United KingdomPaid for hotel parking - is very limited and I could only get a space 1 night in 4. Street parking available next to the hotel but expensive and draconian rules meaning I got a ticket at 6.06am. couldn't buy a ticket after midnight when I got there as 'the parking was closed'. Charges kick in at 6am and I didn't get there until 6:15. The guy must of been hiding in the bushes waiting licking his lips at the prospect of slapping that on the car. Also, no hot water due to plumbers employed by hotel being *****, so on my last morning I couldn't shower before going to work.

United KingdomI liked all but always moan at car park prices. Wish it was free but is 10£ per 24hrs. Free for my motorbike though which is good when I use that. If it was free it would be so good . (if course most hotels now charge but 10£ is the higher end)
Stayed in a single room and probably the nicest single room anywhere I have ever stayed in. A seriously relaxing stay. My go to hotel in Plymouth when the rates are favourable.

United KingdomWe couldn't get WiFi but that didn't matter too much for a short stay as the 4G signal was very good. The bar/lounge has been modernised and lost its character. There could be a more imaginative selection in the breakfast buffet.
It's a grand hotel with a sense of history in a good location close to Plymouth Hoe. Our room was large and comfortable, much better than expected. The staff are friendly and helpful.
