The room was clean, airy, and quite comfortable. It was also quiet. The shower was roomy and had good pressure.

The beds were very hard and we found the sheets weren't clean - there were bits including hair on them.

Lovely location and good food in the canteen.

Well, remember the sound of doors slamming late at night when you were at uni? Bring earplugs,

good value and location - I expected a student hall and that was what it was. Ok for sleeping a night or two. Breakfast was definately better than expected, lots of choice, good coffee, fresh fruit, croissants...

When booking it wasn't made clear on booking.com that common rooms required booking. We were told when we arrived that and we wouldn't be able to use them because we hadn't booked. Thankfully, one room was made available to us and the staff were really helpful. The photos and description on booking.com are misleading.

Good location and good value stay on the outskirts of the city. Excellent breakfast.

Probably the best value option in Edinburgh if you want your own room.
    • Leisure trip

The location is a bit of a pain if you want to be close to the city center. However, there are buses every ten minutes or so and it only costs £5 for a day ticket.

This is a really good option if your budget doesn't stretch to a pricey hotel room. The rooms are well-maintained and the breakfast is top-notch. This definitely beats a packed hostel dorm in the Old Town!

The bathroom looked quite run down already, with black stains in the shower so it would need to refresh a bit. I think the price is very high for such a "look" but I guess the city is overpriced in general so if you decide to go cheaper, this is what you get :D Still it is a good place to stay at if you are not looking for anything fancy. Although what I did not like was the attitude of room attendant which was in a hurry obviously while we were checking out from our room. We were leaving the room 30minutes earlier than is the latest checkout time and she was making some loud comments on the hallway so a bit of more politeness would be appreciated.

The location is very good just 20min walk to the old town so we did not need to use buses really. The room was quiet and suitable for a short stay, if you just come there to sleep basically. We were lucky with the parking, which was just outside the building but I think it works on "first come first serve" policy. We payed extra for breakfast which was very good, offering variety of options.

    Incredible area but old facilities
    • Leisure trip
    • Solo traveler
    • Standard Single Room with Shared Bathroom
    • Stayed 3 nights

The bed was very short and the duvet was even shorter. The room itself was very old and not entirely clean (I doubt it can be really clean after so long). The shared bathrooms/toilets were extremely old, too small, and not very functional (though reasonably clean). It was not clear where you need to go upon arrival to check-in.

The location and the views around the area are absolutely incredible, it was also very easy to get to the location by bus from the city center. There were many options for breakfast, almost anything you might want to eat in the morning. The room, though small, was functional.

The pillows are very thin. Also, sometimes it could be a bit noisy in the corridors after 22h....some customers don't seem to realize that some others are already sleeping.

Well situated, nice and quiet environment. Staff at the reception are very sympathetic and helpful. The breakfast buffet is awesome and delicious. Everything is at a walkable distance if you don't mind walking 2 km. Confort is basic, but quite good.

Room could have been cleaner - it was adequate (by my standards) but definitely not spotless There was a common room next to mine. Originally it was shut, but on one night it was opened to allow a group of youngsters to use it, which was really noisy.

Everything as I expected from Uni accommodation. Bonus was the central location and frequent bus service.
