Although it had everything I needed my room was a bit small. I could hear people in the room above.

Staff were very helpful and polite. I liked the decoration in the dining room and pub area. The food was good and quickly served.

Absolutely love this place. This is our third stay. The staff are wonderful led by the super Julie and Karl. The food is just wonderful and so beautifully cooked and presented. The rooms are really comfortable and have all the things you need. The usual tea, hot chocolate and lovely coffee bags. Biscuits and water bottles replenished each morning when they service the room. Of course there are the usual toiletries in the bathroom. There is also a fan, hairdryer and a little ironing board and iron! Breakfast is lovely and freshly cooked. Highly recommend this hotel. The fact that the pub is lovely is the cherry on top!

Lovely place, friendly staff. The lady that served us breakfast the 1st morning was very efficient. She was brilliant. The co-owner was lovely too, and gave us some more tea bags and cookies. Sbe was pleasant. Staff was lovely.

    Not much!

Very warm, friendly staff. Fantastic location just off the high st. Breakfast was nice, but portions a little small eg one field mushroom served. The Inn was also a local watering hole; which we loved. Gave us a sense of being part of the local community.

Rooms are an annexe to a busy pub and the room window was original and not well sealing. So there was a little noise late at night and early morning. But not so off-putting as to stop us staying again if we are in the area.

Lovely rustic building and room full of character. Friendly staff. Well equipped room.

Slight disturbance during middle of the night of stay, noise coming from next room or downstairs in bar area of people talking loudly and clattering of glassware or plates for a couple of hours.

Excellent service as always. Always made to feel welcome. Breakfast superb. Dinner was really lovely.

All good from our point of view.

We loved our quirky room. It was quiet and clean. Lots of hot water for the shower. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was very tasty, full English if you wished with other options as well. The food in the pub was excellent as was the beer. A very convivial place!

The heat would turn off in the middle of the night making it a bit chilly. The shower and it’s insta-heat system was hard to regulate a consistent temperature. The bathroom was also oddly situated.

The inn was centrally located in town where one could walk around to nearby shops.

Breakfast - honey would be good and more cereal choices & fresh fruit. Hate UHT milk and sachets of instant coffee are preferred to coffee bags. Bar quiet after 20:30. Could hear upstairs floor boards and snoring! Although free parking , its a bit hit and miss to get close to the Inn.

Breakfast (scrambled egg on toast) was lovely. Evening meals (Fish & Chips , Beef Burger) were very nice. Room comfortable & warm. Friendly staff. Cozy old Inn. Real fire. Good powerful shower.

The Eight Bells couldn't have done anything better. The only slight negative was quite a noisy group in the adjoining rooms on Saturday night & with their proximity they disturbed us but all was quiet by 11pm so not really an issue.

Amazingly characterful property with a lovely atmosphere. Despite its age, the pub/restaurant & our room were lovely & warm. The staff were so very friendly; friendly, smiling & attentive. The owner/Manager Julie, even gave us a lift to our nieces wedding venue when we found it impossible to get a taxi... an over & above level of kindness!! The food was outstanding. Both the meal in the restaurant (my steak was perfectly cooked) & the full English we enjoyed on both mornings; all freshly cooked, well presented, hot & excellent quality (given their intense colour, the eggs were clearly local farm eggs) We both slept really well. The bed was so comfortable.

The guy who was serving breakfast on Monday morning lacked enthusiasm and efficiency especially when compared with the lady on Tuesday. She was delightful.

The cooked breakfast was fine, it would be better to serve yogurt and fruit as an alternative to cereal.

Parking was fine on the high street for our stay in March, but might be more tricky at busier times of year. Church bells (very nearby) chime on the hour through the night!

Brilliant location right in the heart of the village, very cosy room, spotlessly clean, lovely evening meal, attentive staff.
