Breakfast (not included) wasn’t amazing for the price. The location could certainly be tricky without a car, though I got to a bus without much trouble.

Very memorable spot, super comfy, warm, clean and spacious in the lodge. The hotel/castle and adjacent garden are iconic! The hot tub is also a great bonus for enthusiasts. We also had a very nice dinner in the bistro, which is a lovely room.

Hard to get hold of anyone at the house when we had a problem/question due to wedding at the main house. Sorted as soon as they had 5 minutes.

Beautiful setting and house was very comfortable and spacious. Our only quibble was lack of cutlery and crockery only 9 forks for an 8 person house and same with cups plates etc so dishwasher used a lot!

Super nice and spacious cottage to stay a few nights with friends. We explored the city from there, a 20 min taxi ride, and we kept returning to cook dinner there since the kitchen has everything we need. The main house is really a palace or castle, beautiful. It's in the countryside so the gardens are stunning. We definitely recommend this cottage.

We had to leave and go back to work 😂

We were kindly taken over to the lodge and given a helpful showaround. The various facilities were explained to us and how best to use and enjoy them. We got to put up a Christmas tree which was lovely and good fun to decorate ☺️ while we listened to Christmas music 🥰 The log burning stove was wonderful and the icing on the cake for our brilliant stay. The staff were extremely helpful when we had queries and nothing was any trouble to them. We would really like to go back in future.

After a long day of trainTravel. It would of been nice to be greeted with a small welcome hamper, with the means to have a hot drink and a biscuit after our journey.The pillows were too soft and weren't supportive enough

We were only there for 3 nights. Right from thd stat,we were made to feel very welcome. The lodge we stayed in wad simply gorgeous, loads of character ,clean and well stocked.

Beautiful property, extremely well equipped and presented, in lovely grounds with hotel facilities alongside. Great location for easy reach to central Edinburgh by train in ten minutes; railway station about 10 minutes drive away and ample parking.

Had to report missing items like the hoover. Property would have benefitted having a broom as leaves were blown in when door was open. The door mat by front door was too thick to go by the door to wipe your feet.

One major problem was the Wi-Fi in the house and service in the area as a whole. The Wi-Fi is found in the living room and can be connected to, but there was very minimal service in the area and the Wi-Fi would not reach the upstairs bedroom. Also, as relaxing as the hot tub was, it was surrounded by many flying insects and flies that were very annoying at times, undermining the hot tub experience.

Overall, the property was all-in-all great and the house was very spacious and roomy, with 4 bathrooms and 4 bedrooms which was perfect for my family of 5. There was really everything you could ask for in this house, with a hot tub in the beautiful garden that definitely added to the property's prestige. The location is also 20 - 30 minutes (depending what time you are travelling) from the property to the city centre of Edinburgh so I would recommend to rent a car when there as it is quite a countryside area, but worth being away from the city hassle.

Amazing property recommend walk about the Carberry tower tower and gardens great photo op for those travelling through Edinburgh. Stayed at Juniper cottage with group of 7 had plenty of room with all the facilities.

The grass could have done with cutting in the lodge garden, but we appreciate that this may have been a time of year/weather thing.

The oven/grill had no instructions & was fiddly to work…..gave up on the grill tbh as just couldn’t suss it out but apart from that absolutely no complaints atall xx

The location of the lodge was perfect….loved hearing the birdsong in the morning & watching the squirrels run about in the garden. The property was like a tardis with plenty room for our group of 5 & the walk in closets were a particular favourite. Special shout out to Lynn at the main house for going over & above for us booking taxis etc which was super appreciated & to our lovely hot tub man 😊 this was the ideal property for us as it was in a beautiful country location but was literally 20mins in a taxi to the centre of Edinburgh so ideal for that & 10mins from the racecourse in Musselburgh. Unfortunately we didn’t get the opportunity to dine at the main house or use their champagne terrace as there was a wedding on so would be fun to come back again & do that some time xx
