Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Absolutely nothing - it was perfect
Very clean, bright and airy with the most comfortable bed that we have slept on. The ‘full Exmoor’ breakfast was superb, with tip top ingredients and incredibly filling. Jane and James are superb hosts - very helpful and interesting to chat with (good luck on the London Marathon Jane!), with great local knowledge to help us decide on our visits for the day.

On-street parking not the most convenient at times, but we knew about this when we booked...the downside of being in that desirable central location.
Central location, putting all of the town's major attractions within walking distance Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice, high quality (and quantity if you wanted). Super selection of compotes/preserves, one or two homemade. Nice comfortable room, well provisioned, happy with all the facilities.

Nothing. One minor downside was for one of us who finds stairs a challenge due to health problems and the bedrooms are upstairs. However that wouldn’t put us off staying again.
The friendliness and helpfulness of the hosts. The excellent choice of breakfast. The hosts were always attentive to the guests’ needs. The comfort of the bed. The plentiful supply of refreshments for the room, including fresh milk rather than UHT. We felt relaxed and at home.

Parking was a little difficult but we always found somewhere to park even if it meant a little walk

We liked everything about our stay, the owners have a great place in a beautiful location, & the Stag next door is the place to go for a night cap or three!
Breakfast was excellent, the host turned each bean individually to make sure they were cooked to perfection, and there was enough to set us up for the day, the location was perfect also, & its a certainty we will stay there in the future

Brilliant location in dunster, very accommodating to our needs of arriving late. As we were staying with another family member they put our tables together for breakfast so we could all sit together. Very friendly hosts who couldn't do enough for us. We put our slips in late for breakfast the first night but everything was still ready and sorted the next morning and when my sister hadn't put in her order the night before they were more than happy to cook her breakfast at request.easy to come and go and a very welcoming atmosphere would recommend!

What's not to like?
Fourth time staying here, each time in a different room. Delighted with all of them. Love all the thoughtful little extras, such as bath bubbles and sun cream for my face. Fresh milk in the fridge outside our door, along with spare supplies of drinks and snacks. Lovely location for exploring the village, with handy on-street parking right outside the door from 6pm to 9am.

Our stay was top class. Room was well equipped and very comfortable. Breakfast was great with lots of choice, cooked to order but mainly it was the warmth of the welcome by our host. Nothing was too much trouble with plenty of helpful suggestions for activities. Thank you for a lovely stay.
