Absolutely loved this hotel..but, as with most old buildings the sound proofing means that there was a lot of noise from the people above us which meant we had broken sleep and didn't get a much needed lie in! This being said, we loved everything else and if we stay again we will take ear plugs with us. Not the staff's fault, they were brilliant. Great apart from that hitch.

We gave up waiting to have our order for cooked food taken at breakfast on the last morning, as others had been waiting 40mins already. Didn't eat dinner in the restaurant, as you had to have too many courses for a fixed price and order before the evening. The room really needed redecorating and a deep clean. Although it was superficially fine, the radiators were dirty and the bottom of the toilet black if you looked from further away. There was no basin plug, so we got one while out. One day we came back to find the room had been left open by the staff. Fortunately it was last on a side corridor and we had nothing of value in there, but it was worrying. The access road is very narrow, single track with passing places, and you have to go quite a way down it to get to the hotel.

Breakfast was fine, with a good cooked selection on offer the first two days. Bar food was good in the evening and you could order when you arrived, with excellent service. The room was quite comfortable, if a little small. There was a sea view if you looked sideways out of the window. Staff were friendly and mostly helpful.

There’s a refurbishment in progress. The old dining area where breakfast was served was cavernous and drab , compared with the lounge/ dining ( guests with dogs were allocated that area ) !!!!

There was nothing to complain about.

Every thing was tip top . The food was excellent both breakfast and the dinner menu had great choices. Very relaxing for a 2 day break. The hotel had all the comforts we wished for.

The standard double bedrooms are a tad dated and a bit of a squeeze for 2! The window could only open fully or be closed. Complementary drinks and cake, again exceeded expectations.

Exceptional location and staff. Meals and wine menu were both very good, exceeding expectations using fresh ingredients providing great flavours combinations. Evening meal was to a high standard with an extensive wine and beer selection. Breakfast was individually cooked from an extensive menu choice. Afternoon drinks were quickly catered for with a good selection of teas and good coffee. The newly refurbished lounge and dining areas are contemporary, very comfortable with great views to the coast.

The beds are very very very very soft.

The menu had lot of flexibility. And the ambience offered was even more amazing. The staff is an icing on the cake. They would run everywhere to help and support the customers. Very impressed with the level of service

The low water pressure meant low water flow from the shower. They could also do with replacing the dining room chairs. But these are suggestions of improvements rather than complaints.

Well there was a mix up over whether dinner was included but I think that was the fault of Booking.com
