Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomLovely welcome at this cosy country pub, with good food. The room was a large suite with an extra bed and sofa, and the bathroom had a large walk in shower as well as a roll top bath. Altogether excellent.

United KingdomThe room looked as though it needed some decoration and looked a little tired. The breakfast wasn’t so good, firstly we had to pre order and when we said 8.00 am when asked we were asked for a little later so we agreed 8.30, in fact we didn’t get it until 9.10. When we wanted to check out the owner was not on site, there was just one very nice person there who was struggling to work the till and accept payment. She tried to call the owner but could not get the till to work so we had to pay over the phone to the owner to pay the bill, it was a chaotic, way to manage a business. The previous evening I got a call asking if we were staying for that night and could we pay our bill, I have never experienced this before, we had even had breakfast. The owners have only just (13 months ago) taken over the business, so maybe it’s early days and it was November so I imagine they don’t have many staff working. It’s a great place to stay and once they get these things right it will be brilliant.
We had a very nice large room, with a nice comfortable bed. The room had a large en-suite bathroom with a great shower. It was clean and tidy, a great place to stay. The dining area for breakfast was nice as well.

United KingdomThe room needs updating. The curtains dragged on the floor and were not fitted on the rail very well. The WiFi was none existent and very unreliable. The steps down to the bathroom would be safer if there was a handrail fitted. A few lights need replacing.
The location was good. Ideal base for visiting Taunton. Also our room was away from the bar area and therefore quiet.

United KingdomFood a little disappointing. Nothing wrong with it just perhaps a little more of it. Few more mushrooms, tomatoes and perhaps peas and onions rings with the steak.
Clean, tidy and friendly.

United KingdomThis was a brilliant place to stay with my family. The rooms were really comfortable and set apart from the pub, and we had a section of the pub all to ourselves for our dinner given we were a group of 10 people, next to the pool table and darts board so we could play with the kids. Would highly recommend!

United KingdomIt has new owners and the website has not been updated so the menus have changed.....Inside when we arrived it was quite cold and as we were led to my parents room we walked through the dining room which was also cold and not very homely it reminded me of the dinner hall at school. It was a little bit of a route march to the room and a few up and down single steps ! again this part of the building was cold. when we arrived at the room that was also cold, the lady explained that the cleaner likes to leave the windows open !! I just feel that a few more homely touches (and warmth) would help. Please bear in mind the pub is quite remote and SAT NAV takes you down some short cuts which can be abit stressful because of the very narrow roads, high hedges etc :-(
The evening meal and breakfast were good and the restaurant/pub had a better atmosphere in the evening as it was quite busy.

United KingdomI'm not a fan of Indian food so the menu was a little restrictive for me but the evening food that I chose was well cooked and very good . Would have preferred not to have to pre order breakfast the night before and would have liked some fruit to have been included.

United KingdomAll good! Thank you!
The pub is beautiful! An old 16th century building in the peaceful countryside. It's convenient for the M5. The bar staff and landlady were very welcoming, I had a delicious evening meal of traditional ham egg and chips. There were other English favorites available as well as Punjabi options. The room was beautifully decorated and you could still see the stone walls of the old buildings left unplastered. The double bed was clean and comfortable and I had 2 good nights sleep. Tea, coffee making facilities and biscuits were provided in the room.

United KingdomThe pre-ordering system for breakfast seems limiting (4 choices - Contintental; small; medium or large). We tried to order just what we required, leaving out items we didn't want (e.g. tomatoes; black pudding etc), but didn't receive exactly what we'd ordered (though what we did receive was very nice). Steps down from the sleeping area to the bathroom could be a problem to people with slightly impaired mobility, like myself, especially at night.
Large room with comfortable bed, good lighting (rare in hotels these days!) and a good sofa to sit in. A generous-sized bath and good shower. "French windows" opening onto a small terrace giving easy access to car park. Room well away from the bar area, so no noticeable noise. Breakfast was very nice (but see "What didn't you like, below"). Obviously very dog friendly, although we didn't have our own dog with us.
