Staff packing away breakfast stuff just after 10. Unable to help ourselves to another drink whilst eating breakfast.

Quirky building. We stayed in a modern room.

2 members of our party had some mobility issues. This was a slight problem as all of the flooring was uneven (due to the age of the hotel), and there wasn't a lift. The stairs were steep, and the handrail was very low, making coming down the stairs difficult. We did get help taking cases upstairs by the incredibly helpful staff. We had two rooms, only one had a walk-in shower. Please bear this in mind when booking.

The staff made our stay. Special mention to Julie & Leon in the bar. Wren and Trish at Breakfast and Jack who seemed to be everywhere. Our housekeeper was also super kind and helpful but we didn't get her name. The hotel is super clean, the food for me was top notch and position of the hotel couldn't be better. Parking was also easy.

The hotel has quite a medieval vibe, being the oldest purpose built in in the South West. We liked this. We're longbow archers and engage in a number of medievally themed activities so it suited us very well. The restaurant offered sufficient range on the menu for our short stay. The food was good and mostly reasonably priced (at least set against the average for these post-COVID times). It's not a modern, soulless chain hotel. It has character. that should be embraced and applauded.

Our room was on the top floor next to the staircase and door to the room corridor. We could hear guests going up and down the staircase and the door to the room corridor banged loudly when it closed which disturbed us on a few occasions throughout our stay. The floors in our room were quite uneven, especially in the bathroom, mould on the bathroom ceiling and the extractor was not working. The overall room standard was lower than expected.

Location was fabulous, the property has some interesting and quirky features. Loved the cobble stone floors throughout, fabulous stain glass windows in bars and interesting artwork on the walls

Breakfast dire. Hard to believe that a restaurant that provides excellent dinners can't provide even a basic breakfast. Cereal choice = Rice Krispies, Full English undercooked bacon and overcooked sausage. Cheapest orange juice I have ever seen. Coffee - awful. Need to get this part - of an otherwise great act - sorted quickly.

Restaurant exceptional dinner menu. Talented chef. Good specials. Fish perfect.

We waited an hour and fifteen minutes for a dessert as staff hadn’t ordered it. When it did arrive it wasn’t worth the wait. It’s like it had just been thrown together. We wanted a coffee after and was told it was too late the machine was off where we had waited so long for our desserts.

Main meal was excellent and breakfast

It didn't bother us but plaster was coming off the walls in places as the building is over 600 years old!!

The room was olde worlde and had bags of character. We love vintage things so was perfect for us. If you are looking for modern and shiny then this isn't for you. We were in room 8 - The Confessional and it had a atmosphere of being haunted, we got woken up at 2am and 5am by the sound of someone/something running down the corridor which made our stay very memorable. Shower was very powerful and tea making facilities were welcome. Staff were great.

Although the bedroom was really old and full of fabulous furniture in keeping, the bathroom looked like it could do with a freshen up. Also, we weren't happy with the parking fine we received because we forgot to pay at 9am on Sunday morning for the public car park. This was, of course, entirely our fault 😒 . We just forgot. Maybe a reminder at breakfast could help prevent this?

Fabulous historic building. Beautifully kept and accurate decor. Feels like you're in a museum. Anyone who likes history or Harry Potter will love it! The food at dinner was very good. Great selection and reasonable speedy service. Very nice staff throughout our stay. Our inclusive breakfast was very good with a wide selection available. Again, very nice staff.

Breakfast staff were doing their best as fully booked and only one chef, so we understood that there was a wait. However, the temperament was rather rushed, and you could tell the ladies felt overwhelmed. The stairs were the traditional round staircase and slightly tricky with two young children. The room had a small bathroom, and there was no spare blanket available as requested.

Welcome was lovely. Loved all the historical information and quirks the property has. The food was divine. Both tea and breakfast 😋

A lot of the furnishings looked worse for wear. Although the staff were friendly and helpful they did appear to be overstretched. A few more staff would allow them to give more time and attention to the customers.

The location and character of the building was perfect. The food was good. Breakfast staff could not be more helpful.

The staff were busy on the day and night of arrival, this may have led to them being generally very unhelpful. The reception is not manned, so you have to try and flag someone as they rush past. When asking if it was possible to book a table for the evening to eat in the hotel, a gentleman just shrugged his shoulders and said maybe, possibly, its very busy you will have to come back and see later (we took our money and ate elsewhere). On entering the restaurant in the morning I was asked for our room number, I gave the hame of the room - as told on arrival and on the bedroom door. I was told by a very stern waitress I need a room number, or a name. I again gave the room name and she stared at me before I realised she meant my name. We then taken to a table allocated for our room.

This old hotel is packed with history. Great location in the middle of Glastonbury. Car park located behind the hotel. £6 for the day. Be warned it will only let you stay 24 hours, not sure what you do if staying longer than one night.
