Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe view from the bedroom - onto a building site! Also, the bedroom was very small, not a lot of room to manoeuvre.
Great location, especially for the museums and Kensington. Room was basic compared to the grandeur of the communal area downstairs by reception, but the room was clean and the complementary half bottle of wine was a nice touch! Breakfast was really good, waiting staff were very friendly.

United KingdomThe lobby doesn’t match the rooms. They were small and didn’t look like the rest of the hotel. Breakfast could’ve had vegetarian options and the shower didn’t have conditioner.
The beautiful lobby and hallways were a treat. The staff were helpful and the rooms have AC which is a result. Breakfast was good for what was there.

United KingdomUpon check in, the receptionist was professional, but not welcoming or pleasant. I had booked the room for 2 guests, however, was made to feel like I had not correctly booked the room for 2 guests. It was a twin room. The room had been paid in full and nowhere on the website did it mention I would need to provide a card for a holding charge. Whilst I was happy to provide it, it was the manner in which it was requested - especially given the room was already paid for in full. We had not booked breakfast, but finding out at check in that breakfast would be more expensive to book at the hotel, as opposed to if we had of booked it prior to arrival. A breakfast charge of £25 seems excessive - even by London standards! Upon checkout, we were not asked how our stay was, just room keys taken from us and 'you have paid in full, you can leave now' - this really took me by surprise! We werent asked if we needed to store our luggage or even 'have a nice day'. Was very abrupt. I have previously worked in the hospitality industry, and in hotels, and I am always willing to give places the benefit of the doubt when it comes to certain aspects, as I know how hard it is to work in the industry, but bad manners are not acceptable. The check in/check out experience is the only thing I can fault with this stay. There was fruit and wine in the room, which we were unsure if were complimentary, but we did not drink or eat just incase it was chargeable as we did not feel comfortable asking the receptionist after our check in experience.
Fantastic location - mere minutes to Hyde Park, and Queensway Tube station around the corner. The hotel is beautiful from the outside and inside is also beautiful. I usually stay in a 'chain hotel' when travelling, and was initially nervous about staying in a boutique hotel, but there was no need for those nerves! My friend and I were both bemused with reading previous reviews with the 'half shower curtain' comments - it did make us laugh, as the shower screen does seem a bit pointless, however, we both showered and our bathroom floor did not resemble a swimming pool, so not sure about the other reviews highlighting this! We walked from Paddington Station, and maps was easy to follow. The decor of the hotel is a tad on the dated side, but we felt the hotel was absolutely beautiful and loved the feel of the decor and our room was comfortable and clean. No sign of wear/tear in our room, but I would have loved to have been able to open the window as we had a small balcony, but understand why the windows were sealed. I would consider staying here again.
