Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

This was our fourth visit to The Rochester. We've learned the area and it's convenient to the St. James Park Station.

United KingdomLooking very run down these days. Staff hard to find in the restaurant and bar. My room was nothing special, and the bed (which was one that could fold up 8th the wall) was not very comfortable- came away with a bad back. Very few plugs, no USB,no plugs near the bed, no bedside light, the safe was way too high for me to use, very basic tea and coffee etc. Food was very expensive with a 12.5% service charge added and a space to add gratuities. Lots of steps- up to the entrance and changes of level on the ground floor.
When staff were around they were friendly and polite. Bar and restaurant food was good. Very handy location for me.

FranceVery tiny bathroom , even to small for a single person in a room with 2 large beds (up to 4 people) and in really bad shape requiring full refresh / sanitary equipment replacement. The worst was the toilet requiring more than 10 min to refill between 2 flushes... Despite reporting the problem at reception it has not been fixed during our 3 days stay...
Great location, very calm close to Victoria. Very nice and friendly personnel excellent breakfast.

United KingdomVery stressful breakfast though. Felt like I was imposing. Had a really odd stand-off where we all agreed that there was ten minutes until the end of service, but clearly that meant that there was no service. Undaunted, I ate (with hindsight wouldn't have.) Was tolerated though. Had to ask for a fork which was awks, considering the apparently critical nature of the time situation. #leastrelaxingbreakfast

United KingdomLondon prices have risen steeply so we will not be travelling there as often as we used to do. Pillows were very thin. I had to request a third pillow for my wife and I. The bathroom, though very clean was also very small.
Staff friendly. Location for our purposes is excellent.

United KingdomAlthough we were asked if the room would suit and we did accept it,the bed was not comfortable. It was a pull down bed and we think it would be better if it was replaced with a normal divan bed.
Staff were very pleasant and helpful.

JordanThe room and single bed are small, so for those who need them to be more spacious, might be an issue, but for me it wasn’t. The mattress was comfortable and I am someone who is picky with the beds I am willing to sleep on because I easily get back aches with bad mattresses, so I don’t give this feedback lightly, and so for me that was enough.
The staff was very friendly, great location very central, there was an elevator which comes very handy for those traveling with heavy luggage, I booked the single room, it was very clean, warm, and comfy, but was a bit small, and the bed was small, but I did not mind it, as long as the mattress was comfortable, which it was!

LatviaPaid for room with breakfast included. On arriving saw that breakfast times differs (mon-fri; sat ; sun). Trip was planned so asked if there are possibilities to get breakfast earlier. The hotel offered to fill a form and choose simple basic food. We took this opportunity, spoke with receptionist about amount and some specific things. In the morning, when received packages we felt sad and disappointed because they were poorly done - almost nothing from requested. Facilities - felt cold inside. Checking out - two hotel employees standing, one in the corridor, the other at the reception and no one cared to open the door for us leaving with suitcases.
Location was ok.

United KingdomIt’s dated. Need modernising. New bathrooms carpets and paint schemes required throughout. Maybe take the existing wood back to a light shade then repaint everything. The front doors swing back and hit you when leaving and entering, food and staff were great but the restaurant felt like the late 1980s. No contactless payment Also the upfront / deposit of £50.00 should be more clear in the write ups as I move money all the time so could have caught me out but was okay.
The building was lovely and the location brilliant close to every thing.

This was a very pleasant boutique hotel in a very convenient location. Its close to the centre. We had an early flight from Gatwick so it was only 5 mins walk to Victoria from hotel. We had a room on 5th floor which was much larger than we would expect in London for the price. Friendly staff too.
