We loved the room, the fantastic Scottish breakfast made by the host, the tour of the castle, the place were the castle is located. Everything was amazing. We hope to be back one day.

No problems at all ,

The breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of options and well presented . The dining room can also be used as a lounge by guests which is a nice benefit to have . Parking was private and close to the building. The Castle is a grand old building full of character .A path leads down to the Beach with walks to neighbouring villages or by crossing over the river to A more rugged coastline . Highly recommended and a great Host

Beautiful location and fantastic host. The room was gorgeous. The castle is amazing. Breakfast - perfect. Plenty to choose from and cooked breakfast was done exactly how we wanted it. Host was very knowledgeable. Great information on places to visit and where to eat.

Our stay was too short.

We were treated to a superb full Scottish breakfast and then were taken on a tour off the castle. Robbie was so knowledgeable regarding the past history of the castle and all the changes which had been made over its many centuries. We cannot thank our host enough for the time he took showing us its many rooms and interesting artefacts. The castle is well placed for the local amenities and also the village of Gourdon is lovely walk along the beach on a path following the old railway track. We would definitely recommend the Harbour Bar there for the very fresh local food. Thank you Robbie and Vivienne for a wonderful stay. We will definitely be back.

Excellent location for exploring the area, by car or foot (right next to the coastline). Lovely room. Exceptional breakfast :) Robert was an excellent host, easy to talk to, full of ideas for visits: he also gave up his time to show us around Hallgreen Castle. The castle is worth the visit just for itself, spanning centuries of history, eloquently presented by Robert whose enthusiasm for the building is infectious. Thank you for a wonderful short break :)

A fantastic castle, with lots of history and quirks. A trip back in time. Robbie the owner was so friendly and knowledgeable about the property and the area. We felt very welcomed.

Cobwebs in some areas and bathroom was not well supplied.

This is a true BnB experience where you are being welcomed into someone's home. Take the tour of the castle - you won't regret it. The owner is clearly passionate about castles. Don't expect the amenities to be perfect, but you will be comfortable and well fed. Dogs will greet you.

Staying in a real Scottish castle is a wonderful and unique experience. It's far removed from a hotel chain and is quirky and individual. We loved it! The owner was very helpful and welcoming, and we would happily go back.

Hallgreen castle would not be for everyone, but if you are prepared to accept that it is a piece of Scottish heritage and not a pristine boutique hotel then you are sure to enjoy it. Shame we didn't have time for the tour of the castle that Robbie offered us.

It is not every day that you stay in a 14th century castle! Robbie was the perfect host. The Scottish breakfast was beautifully cooked and presented :) The room was spotless and had everything we needed, including a welcome fridge with water and milk.

Personally nothing we disliked. The castle is a working home and Robbie & Vivienne are both lovely, well informed & happy to give travel tips! Bonzo & Rocky were also happy to play ball and have ear scratches!

The history of the castle was there to see. Robbie gave us a superb tour and free reign to look around ourselves for pictures etc. he also lit the fire in the great hall one of our evenings with only the fire & candlelight it was atmospheric and very relaxing ( no ghost came out though!)
