We had a delightful stay at lovely High Wray Farm in the beautiful Lake District. Sheila is a wonderful, warm and welcoming host who really looked after us. She provided a delicious generous breakfast and lovely little extras like tea & cake. We loved staying here.

The property was perfect. There was absolutely no faults. Sheila was an amazing host with a cracking smile and very welcoming. The breakfast was exceptional, the location was great, the views were amazing. If you like walking, then this will be a great location to walk down to the lake and walk up to Wray castle. The pictures below tells you all. A typical English cottage is what’s needed.

    Nothing at all.

The house which dated back to the 15th century was immaculately kept by Sheila & as well as a room each we had access to a lounge & dinning room where our beautiful breakfast was served each morning.

Beautiful location on a quiet lane west of Windermere. Shiela was an extremely friendly host. Short distance from Hawkshead which has a few pubs and places to eat.

    Nothing. It was perfect.

Breakfast was fabulous and service perfect. The old fashioned style of the building and decor was perfection for me. Sheila was a fantastic host, friendly, helpful and communicative. Always available either on site or at the end of the phone. I was very happy that there was no tv in the room, but I point this out. Tv is in the lounge/breakfast room. No food or supplies within easy walking distance but a 15-20 drive to Ambleside or Hawkshead providers all you might need. The location, scenery, comfort and friendliness more than compensates to any of the other facilities you may feel are missing.

Great food. Lot's of choice for breakfast. I had the really excellent full farmhouse breakfast. Very friendly atmosphere. Comfortable accommodation and lots of nice touches, eg the landing fridge with fresh milk and the decanter of sherry 'for tired walkers' on the landing. Lovely sitting room and garden available for guests on this working farm. Couldn't ask for more really and very good value for money.

I forgot to tell Sheila that thicker curtains in the bedroom would be appreciated.

Honestly a home away from home. Sheila goes out of her way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The breakfast is amazing (yum the homemade break) and she also makes cakes in the afternoon. It is very quiet, lost in the countryside, we couldn't have asked for more. We will definitely come back if we go back to the lake district.

That I didn't find it earlier.

I've spent the last five or six years on the road due to my job. I have stayed in high profile hotels and B&Bs. High Wray Farm is the most welcoming and beautifully cared for place that I have had the good fortune to stay at. The host goes above and beyond the call of duty and the attention to detail in every aspect is incredible.

Not really didn’t like but unfortunately the building is very old and walls aren’t thick so I know the other guests would have heard my husband snoring

Cosy, welcoming and lovely location small property on 3 rooms but shared dining and lounge area so just right, not to overcrowding with lots of people coming and going was beautiful

Nothing but 5 stars and 10/10s for Sheila and her beautiful cottage. We travelled by bikes and arrived soaking wet to High Wray and the kind hostess went above and beyond to help us out - in no time did we find ourselves warming up by the fireplace, munching on home-made cake and sipping tea in the company of Sheila's cat while she was taking care of our drenched gear and clothes. It's hard to believe how old the cottage is given how well it's kept and how sparking clean It is. The location is just stunning. Lastly, special shout-out goes to the breakfast which was one of the best I've ever had. Hope we an visit High Wray Farm again one day!

Delicious breakfasts with specials on the menu every morning. local produce. Sheila made the most delicious cakes and shortbread every day. Also cream sherry at the end of the day- all lovely touches and made our stay even more special. Would love to go back.
