How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

All good.
Very pleasant place to stay for a couple of nights as near to many local attractions. Within easy reach of Stirling, the Trossochs and Loch Lomond. Very comfortable with a lovely breakfast. The owners were particularly friendly and amenable.

Nothing, it was perfect!
Room was beautifully presented with a large bathroom, spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the house. The breakfast was lovely with a huge range of hot and cold options, location is perfect for long or short walks, pub trips or a wonder round the shops.

There is not much to mention here. My bed was a little squeeky which was unpleasant but it did not stop me from getting good night sleep (just falling asleep was a little prolonged). Nothing else to add.
I loved staying in this well designed guest house, which I would definitely call a hotel rather than a guest house. There were some lovely surprising amenities available during my stay. Location is great although parking can be challenging at times. Host (Jan) is great, very welcoming, helpful and kind throughout my. Breakfast was gorgeous with good selection. I would definitely stay again if I happen to be in the area.

Highland house was in a great location and our room was warm and cozy and welcoming with great views of Ben Ledi. We really enjoyed meeting the owners and getting to know them and some of the other locals. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming.

Welcome upon arrival, breakfast very good, both continental and cooked options. Perfect for visiting Stirling and SPECTACULAR surrounding areas. Dog made very welcome.

That I couldn't stop a little longer.
A conveniently situated guest house with friendly and welcoming proprietors. The guest house has a very warm and cosy feel with good room facilities and some additional self-service facilites next to the dining room. A generous breakfast and orderable packed lunches make for a great start to any highland adventures.

Nothing really. The building is old and therefor a bit noisy when there’s loads of people. But I found that rather comforting really.

Jan and Gordon were fantastic hosts and the bedroom was even better than we expected, clean, comfortable and well decorated. And the central location near bars, restaurants, cafes and shops was another fantastic perk. We really enjoyed our short stay and would highly recommend the Highland Guest House to anyone.

We weren't particularly lucky with the weather....oh well, we'll do better next time.
Jan and Gordon are fantastic hosts. The location of the guest house is perfect if you like peace and quiet, the breakfast is awesome and Callander itself a great place from which to explore the wonderful Trossachs.

Such an amazing guest house. Will definitely be back. The staff are super helpful and the food was amazing for breakfast. The room itself was a great size for me and my wife, it was very clean, had everything we needed for our stay. The coffee machine made some of the best coffee I had tasted, and I've tasted a lot of coffee.

Centrally located in Callander, this place is absolutely a charming guesthouse. Plaid carpet, highland coo decor, amazing breakfast and attentive hosts make this accommodation among the best I’ve ever stayed.
