The lady who checked us in was very professional and attentive, but overall the energy of the property was a little odd. It felt like a place that some people return to again and again (understandably, particularly for its location away from the bustling tourist spots) but if you are visiting for the first time and from far away perhaps you don't get quite the same warm welcome. Staff were professional on the surface, but we didn't feel it was all genuine honestly.

The house itself is stunning, and we mainly chose this property for the lake views, which did not disappoint. Room was also spotless, bathroom was dated but fine for one night. Overall, the property is a little old fashioned but there is a lot of charm in that, particularly the arm chairs by the fire which we sat in for a drink after we'd been out for dinner.

A small degree of "tiredness" about aspects of the property but nothing to spoil the visit and we understand a programme of improvements is ongoing.

Talk about a room with a view that could make even the clouds jealous :) Staff here are excellentos!They pulled off an early morning feast accepting our request that left us feeling like royalty. Highly recommend this hotel for their stellar service!

Breakfast was fabulous as was the dinner we had there. The views from the room were beautiful and we enjoyed our stay there immensely. My only negative is our room really needed maitenance. The carpet needed shampooing; the curtain linings needed to be replaced and some painting needed to be done but it did not really detract from the lovely staff and the overall stay

The property is in need of investment. The room, albeit a nice size suite, was tired and not a great standard.

Location is superb & the staff are very accommodating. The 6 course taster menu was delicious.

Just wow! Firstly, the views of the lake and surrounding areas are phenomenal. The lodge we stayed in was absolutely spotless and real luxury, yes it is a little on the pricey side but you absolutely get what you pay for. The breakfast was absolutely gorgeous, something for everyone. The staff cannot do enough for you. I feel like we would never stay anywhere else in the Lake District.

It was expensive and the service charges were added automatically to the bill. That said they were deserved and I definitely want to go back.

Brilliant staff - very friendly. Fantastic bed - so comfortable- best night’s sleep I have had in a long time. Lovely ambiance, the room was better than we expected although it was difficult to warm it up. The food was excellent.

Not too much to be honest . The wine is silly prices and the mark up is quite extortionate . No one changed our coffee cups in 3 days but came in to fill the water up which I thought was quite strange .

Food menu choice poor. We understand that it is all locally sourced so dependant on season. Had taster menu on previous visits, but had an issue that completely tarnished the visit as not as advertised on website. Staff were lovely and sorted it, but it spoiled the birthday weekend. Food however was undercooked or overcooked. They have a lot do do before they hit Northcote standard which was what the manager was defending the price as being comparable to. Restaurant manager was very helpful and knowledgable. Fish and chips on night 1 were lovely.

The room was lovely as expected. We have been here several times before. A few little extras were missing from previous visits (tissues, pen and paper, slippers), but we were not worried about that.

Food expensive with little choice on the menu. Breakfast was a let down, no beans on the full English and only two slices of toast per couple. Did ask for more toast with the full English but never came.

Superb views over the lake Outstanding breakfast in the mornings - this was included in our room rate and was excellent value for what it provided. The hotel was essentially more intimate than we expected with the same key, staff on duty for all of our staff. Staff were excellent and friendly

it was a bit noisy in the morning (not sure if this was from people staying in the lodge next door or from outside but it was very early).

breakfast was really good, the lodges are very spacious and the bed was comfy. I really liked the bath with the TV. The lodge was also nice and warm when we got there, we could change the temperature with the ipad.
