Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was a very friendly chap of reception when I returned from a meal out with colleagues. He checked our room bookings and ensured breakfast was on the room. The following morning I went to breakfast with a colleague and we both have our room numbers. She confirmed with my colleague she had breakfast for one person, took my room number and then showed us to a table. I ordered eggs and tea and whilst eating was approached to ask how I was paying for breakfast. I was surprised as I believed it had been put on the room and nothing was said when I gave my room number. I explained the situation and advised I would go to reception after breakfast and if needed will sort the bill from there. I was re-approached a further two times during my breakfast and then again as I was about to head to reception to sort out the confusion to be told ‘if you don’t pay it comes out of my wages’. I went to reception and explained the unpleasant experience and said I was happy to pay - explained the situation. The reception assured me their salary would not be deducted and the breakfast was made complimentary. Apart from the breakfast experience, it was a good stay.
Good location close to bars and restaurants. The property has a pleasing entrance and lobby area. The reception and bar staff were very friendly.

United KingdomThe leisure facilities seem below the standard you would expect from a 5 star hotel, bit of a renovation will sort that.

United KingdomUnfortunately, family members were on different floors, which was great. Whilst it allowed everyone space and privacy, problems arose when we wanted to go from the 14th floor to the 10th to see family. The lifts only allow you to exit your own floor, which is great for security. It's not so great when you want to check your mother. Breakfast was amazing, but quite pricey.
The location to the city centre was great, only 5/10 minutes walk. The staff at reception were extremely polite and friendly. The hotel rooms were large and comfortable, and the beds and pillows were amazing.

United KingdomHotel facilties are dated. Room needs an upgrade. Here are a few points: 1. Room light switches only on one side of the bed 2. Wire showing bellow desk- look very unsightly 3. Shower head fixed to the wall too low, and it's position means that it almost flows horizontally 4. Sink tap has a very short spout, means as you wash your hands or similar, water goes everywhere 5. No slow closing toilet seat 6. No toilet brush 7. Soap sticks to shop dish 8. Noise along the corridor by other guest shrieking at 11pm - thankfully hotel staff dealt with it quickly

United KingdomShower in the bathroom. Walk in shower rather than a shower over the bath is now a normal requirement in a 4 star hotel . A bath cannot now be justified with the need to save water and energy.
Excellent location close to main centre and adjoining the CBSHall where we had booked to hear the excellent Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra. We had Continental breakfast as full breakfast is too expensive. Dinner menus also very expensive as we found when we ate twice in the restaurant.

United KingdomEverything was good on this visit, however if I wanted to be really nitpicking I would have preferred real cookies in my room to have with a cuppa rather than the caramelised offering (sadly I realise its probably a way of saving money)
We visited Birmingham for a concert and it was only a 10 minute walk from the hotel. We enjoyed drinks in the club lounge before we went to the concert. There was plenty of choice at breakfast to cater for different tastes. Enjoyed a cocktail for a nightcap before bed.

United KingdomReason for booking the hotel was to use the pool and was only aware of children not being allowed to use the pool (12 year olds and above only) once I had booked and was at the very bottom of my booking this was disappointing and think this needs to be stated when advertising the pool!!
