Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe rooms were dated in comparison to the rest of the building but that did actually fit in with the age of the hotel. The rooms were comfortable and clean.
Very friendly and helpful staff in reception. Good breakfast with plenty of choice. Spa area is nice. Bar prices were reasonable. Public areas of the hotel were well maintained with appropriate decor for the age of the building. Great location.

United KingdomNo blankets in the rooms, but only for use in the balcony during chilly evenings. A little dated decor of a room, but still cosy and with its own character.
Very Clean throughout. Sea facing room with balcony although a little dated was spotless clean and had everything we wanted. Exceptional breakfast Buffet with a wide choice range. Amazing views in a perfect location, few minutes walk to town centre, but in a quiet area.

United KingdomThe room got a bit cold during the day and was missing some modern amenities but that's part of the charm of staying in such an old hotel. The bed was too soft for me, which is personal preference. Sadly the jacuzzi was closed and there was no access to the loungers, so I had nowhere to relax while using the spa area.
I received an upgrade via Booking.com on my room, which was on the second floor with a balcony and stunning panoramic view of the sea. The room was very large and clean with comfy linen on the bed. High ceilings and period features took me back in time. The rest of the hotel was also beautiful inside and well maintained. Breakfast was a special treat and the buffet selection was wonderful. All the staff were great as well. I was there in low season - so it was lovely and quiet.

United Kingdomthere is a bit of deterioration in the hotel, balconies are closed off which is a shame and my patio door was unlocked and could not be locked so I spent a night worried about this... OUr food in the bar area was not great, the barman had to serve drinks and collect food from a far away kitchen - which meant the bar kept being un-manned, he was doing his very best, looked exhausted - but he remained really kind and helpful but people were walking away without getting drinks as they got fed up with waiting for him to return, very short sighted of the management i think.
The breakfast was lovely, a wonderful choice from vegetarian cooked breakfast to the good cooked meat eater breakfast, lovely tea and toast, cereals and fruits and pastries with a wonderful sea view and white table cloths - very lovely! Our rooms had wonderful floor to ceiling sea views, so relaxing

United KingdomYou can tell this hotel was once grand in its height, probably several decades ago. Overall, the property is very outdated and the outside looks like it's falling apart, granted it's right on the sea and I can imagine there is a lot of constant damage due to wind and rain and difficulty to stay on top of. Our biggest complaint was the food, it was the worst hotel food I've ever had, and we've traveled a lot. It's the worst in all the countries we've visited, not just the UK. My initial dish was inedible, the staff was nice and allowed me to swap out for a second dish, which was technically edible but tasted horrible. My complaint is with the actual kitchen staff and their manager. All the food appeared to be dumped from a can, package, or a frozen bag. I don't believe there is actually any Chef that works there, just people who "facilitate" preparing meals from already prepared meals. There doesn't appear to be any "cooking," and if so they need a new chef. The wait staff were friendly and I recognize this was not their fault. But there is no excuse for whoever is "cooking" in the back. For example, I ordered the chicken caesar salad. I eat a lot of these and I wasn't expecting a masterpiece but I also wasn't expecting it to be inedible. The lettuce was warm and wilted, overall the whole salad was room temp to warm, not appetizing. But worst was the caesar deressing, which after a few bites appeared to me to have gone bad, which is very bad considering it's made from anchovies (seafood). It's like they served me rotten fish. My stomach literally started turning and I felt sick. My second dish was just linguine with tomato sauce and it was gross, I've had prepared meals from Tesco that are better. Also there was a very noticeable spider web with spider and his/her insect meals hanging in one corner of the Palm Court & Lounge, which is where we were eating.
The location and views are fantastic. We splurged on the bigger deluxe king room to accommodate our 2 dogs, the room was very large and comfortable. However, the furniture was very outdated and had many scratches and wood pieces falling off. This didn't necessarily bother us but it was very outdated and we were worried there may be confusion over the condition of the furniture and us having dogs; we didn't want to be blamed for the already existing damage, which was quite notable. The hotel and staff are very dog friendly, which was very nice and made our stay more comfortable. They had dog beds and separate feeding/water bowls for each dog. We had patio access to get the dogs out quickly for doing their business. Very nice set up for dogs.
