Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

It was tiny, but I did ok as I was in the room only about 12 hours total.
The fact that despite being nearly 3 days late (due to the airlines!), my room was held available for me when I finally arrived.

Could have a few more things to make it perfect. Needs a rug by the bed. The floor is cold vinyl. The front entry to the house does not look welcoming at all. Dead plants in planter and stuff on front porch. Simple fixes could really help. Fake flowers everywhere. At least some fresh flowers in the entry would be lovely and really upgrade the house. You pay a high rate so if I were then I’d make it look more upscale.
Beautiful huge room with amazing ceiling and chandelier. Large bay window facing street do a wee bit noisy at night but a sound machine cured that. Super friendly and accommodating owner lives downstairs.

It was far from the main streets. I had to walk alot to get back to the hotel

A very basic property extremely overpriced.
The location is a bus/taxi ride from the city centre, property is a large multi bedroom house in need of a little TLC. White walls everywhere with no pictures/paintings it felt more like an office. Comfortable double bed a little creaky with basic facilities. Very handy for most bus routes and about 20min travel time to city centre.

No major problems - just had to ask for a hair-dryer, which was listed in description but missing, and they brought one within about 20 mins. We asked for heating, as it was quite cold weather even in late July. The central heating was off, but they brought us a stand-alone electric heater.
Very convenient location, near bus stops with frequent buses to & from the city centre. Elegant building, entrance, & elegant and spacious room. Clean ensuite bathroom. Four comfortable beds. Very easy check-in & check-out: Just walked in, got a friendly reception & collected the key; just left the key on desk in the lobby when leaving.

We liked everything .
Good location to the city centre , could either walk it, or get the number 3 bus which was very reliable and frequent . It was out first time to Edinburgh and we loved it. So much to see an do , we was there for 3 nights but wished we'd stayed longer as ran out of time and there was still so much we wanted to see and do. People seemed very friendly too . Loved it and will defo be going back !

The only negatif was parking. We parked on the street as there was no space at the front and didnt know if there was a back parking. We ended up with a parking ticket as we left after 10 and it wasn't free anymore.
The pictures and description matched what we got. Really happy with our choice and good value for money.

It’s pretty hot upstairs. The window can be opened but there’s no screen to keep the bugs out.
The decor is awesome! The room is comfortable. The location is perfect if you don’t mind a quick cab/bus ride down to the main part of the city. I walked it a couple of times—just not with a backpack.

On arrival it was a bit chaotic and we got a room that we had to leave after 10 minutes. The shower took a very long time to get hot but all in all it was a very nice stay.
The rooms are spacious and they moved the beds so we had three seperate ones. The location of the hotel is amazing with a bus stop right across the street that takes you directly into the city.

It is quite a walk to the City Center and there's nothing close by. No restaurants, coffee shops or grocery stores. If you don't eat something beforehand you won't be able to find anything.
The room was comfortable.
