Food and breakfast were definitely worse than a hotel of this level. Few options, no taste. Even though the presentations were beautiful, they were lost due to the coldness of the dishes.

The evening meal was expensive for what it was, the bar menu appeared to be much better value.

Bed was a little uncomfortable. It was two singles pushed together and we kept rolling into the middle.

Only minor “tweaks” No mirror in the room (27) for dressing/hair styling purposes The magnifying mirror in the bathroom was poorly located making it difficult to use. The toilet had a poor flush. The view from the side window of our room overlooked some generators/kitchen operation area- can’t be helped but a bit disappointing. Whilst we appreciate that this is a beautiful hotel in a stunning location- £290 is a lot to pay for a few hours in a room and breakfast but we know the prices are comparable to other similar hotels we stay in e.g Winander Club at Low Wood Bay, Langdale Hotel and Spa etc.

Beautiful location. The hotel is stunning. The special arrival with champagne was lovely as was the tour of the hotel with an interesting potted history given by our lovely host (sorry forgot the name) and the snack selection available on the landings/hallways was great- I hope in the months to come, these special extras that help to set the hotel apart from others, won’t disappear if the hotel is looking to tighten the profit margins. The mini cinema is another unique feature and whilst we didn’t use it, we certainly would do, visiting with family in the future. We enjoyed some ice cream in our room though with a movie on the TV! Couldn’t fault the staff- without exception they were genuinely friendly, chatty, attentive and warm.

We booked and the price was reduced by £150 per night the day after our free cancellation policy ended. I contacted the hotel and they let me cancel and rebook for the following night. It would have been very overpriced at the original price. Food wasn’t amazing and was over priced but the setting and service were very good. Small teething problems such as lamps don’t work. Also check your restaurant bill as extra drinks added on. Lack of communication for my cancellation refund / still not received any update apart from the phone call I had to make to request the £540 refund 4 days after cancelling. The hotel really encourage to book direct to avoid these issues .

View and location incredible. The interiors outstanding Loved the separate little living room in the rooms that overlooked the lake. The books were beautiful finishing touches. Bathroom was delightful

Only entrance to our room on outside of main billing.we got wet through going for breakfast.How crazy is that::: Our room had 8 steps not clearly marked:: leathal. Took us 1 hr to find a kettel for a cuppa. Full English break fast not great.fryed egg looked like a golf ball.rest didn't seem fresh. Rooms re numbered,confusion Ne w car park 150 yds in the rain.
