The rooms are dated and not changed in the past 10+ years. The restaurant has shrunk to only one outlet. The breakfast is basic and served in a cramped breakfast room.

The staff and evening food were, as always top notch.

A bit more choice at breakfast especially for those of us who don't eat the Ulster Fry. Need to offer fresh fruit rather than tinned. A selection of breads and pastries also are required.

Friendly hotel. Provides good standard accommodation.

We can't think of one thing to complain about!

The room was just to our taste, old polished wood and drapey curtains. There were lots of comfy places to sit in the lounge areas, and books to read. The receptionist recommended a lovely walk up the hill to the waterfall before dinner, and it was just perfect. The food was excellent, and we were glad we had our evening meal at the hotel too. The staff were very accommodating, even though it was quite late by the time we finished.

The room and the hotel public spaces were looking very tired and dated. The breakfast was basic and the ingredients were not very appetizing. eg. my fried egg was cooked solid and very pale in colour.

Our evening meal was OK and reasonably priced

Rooms very dated went to a local bar for the night returned to the hotel at 10.45 to find it locked up I know its a small hotel in a small town but was there really a need for the drop bar across the door.

Our bedroom was cold. The central heating was antiquated, even had to have a separate electric radiator. The sash windows where only single glazed and would rattle when any big vehicles passed

Extractor fan in bathroom was extremely noisy.Room was just about OK but very basic. No biscuits, writing paper and shower towels were tiny, cold and rough.Wanted a sandwich but not possible after 5.30pm Why? Wanted a roast dinner (beef) but none left so went for lamb roast dinner. Could have been anything.eg Cardboard. Obviously cooked, chilled, reheated etc etc.Didnt kill me but never again.Didnt complain as staff very pleasant at all times. management problems

The hotel is dated.Perhaps quaint is a better description.Probably struggling to survive in today’s demanding financial climate.Thats a great pity as it obviously gives much needed employment in the area.Fire in lounge was super

Long walk to room and many stairs to negotiate with large suitcases!

Great historic hotel with very attentive staff. Rooms are large and there are many additional places to hang out. Martin was especially gracious! We also loved the food in the restaurant. We ate all our meals there and thoroughly enjoyed each one.

Room had several problems and was in need of overhaul. The toilet was not flushing properly, it took at least 3 times to get it to work. The shower was difficult to control as the temperature of the water went from warm to scorching hot to cold in a few seconds. Coffee table had numerous big stains . The chairs were so low, it was impossible to write at the desk because edge of the table was at my shoulders. Light in entry way did not work, curtain was separated from the curtain ring. Light above the desk was not working. I saw other rooms in the hotel which appeared to be in better shape. None of the issues I reported were addressed by management . In the future I would stay again in this hotel but not in room 126 or 127 we had both rooms for three days. It appeared to me better rooms went to one night bus tours. P.S. I had 2 rooms reserved and we stayed 3 nights

Location, food was good, cleaning staff was very helpful to get for us what we needed .

Had a comfortable stay and the 1 staff member we met throughout on reception was lovely and very friendly. We didn't eat there as it all seemed a little quiet. Room was large but very old fashioned, not updated in a long long long time. Had all we needed though and was clean enough so that was fine. Free parking was good across the road. Good light airy breakfast room, with good choices.

Evening meal was disappointing. I had chowder, only salmon and white fish in it, and it lacked flavour. I've tasted many chowder's all over the country and this wasn't great compared to others.. although i did have a panini for a snack and this was very tasty.

Room was lovely , nice and big. Breakfast was excellent. Plenty of choice. Staff were very friendly, both on checkin/ out and in the restaurant.

A great way to escape the twenty-first century rat-race for a few days' relaxation. Helpful and friendly staff -- feels more like a family than a retail enterprise. Lots of period charm and history. Quite spacious bedrooms, well equipped if a little bit dated. The local area has more to offer than it seems to realise: e.g. the Cranney Falls (a couple of miles' walk inland) compares well with the better known Glens of Antrim waterfalls but you need to know to look for them! Also note the Galley fish and chip shop just up the road - a very fine traditional chippie.

I have no reason to be critical about anything other than if you are a poor sleeper, you might be disturbed by traffic but there's not much you can do about that other than double glazing.

Any problems such as bedroom heating and hot water issues were specific to my room and were well compensated by the attentive staff. Long window curtains covering the radiators did not help. Choices at breakfast were limited but the cooked breakfast was tasty and freshly done.

Liked the quiet, relaxed ambience and the quaintness of this historical property. Yes, it does need some upgrading but charm may be lost. Steak dinner was excellent as was the seafood chowder!! Menus were very good and portions were huge. Cosy open fire in one of the many lounges added to the comfort.
