The waste bin in the bathroom had not been emptied and the kettle did not work on the stand provided so we had to put it on the bedside table to use the plug there.

I found the double bed not very comfortable and the duvet rather lumpy but the single bed in the bedroom was very comfortable when I moved into that. We ate in the bar and the food was good and reasonably priced.

We requested a ground floor room for a disabled companion-this did not happen-we had to virtually carry her up steep stairs-extremely difficult. Breakfast was cold, dried up and inadequate.

The bedroom was very suitable for 3 ladies and a baby. Very clean. Bathroom good. Compensation was paid for the unsuitability of the position of the room.

The tv in the room was above the single bed and dangerously insecure glad I didn’t have a child with me.aeriel wire was bent against wall and was shorting out and getting hot . We were on the second floor no alternative was offered when we mention my partner cannot walk far. First floor rooms were still available at the time.

No hot water, to be fair to staff I didn’t report it as hotel was fully booked and hence there would not have been a room to be moved into. Hot buffet first morning for breakfast after a wedding. None the following morning.

We were in a 'family room' on top floor (no lift and staircase), the window was tiny with a view over-looking a wall and on the side you could see flat rooftop. The ceiling lights didn't all work or were very dim. The bedside lamp didn't work. The single bed was too soft with one prominent spring. The double bed covered the radiator so the room was cold. No plug socket next to mirror so blow-drying hair was a problem. The bathroom was cold and huge with no heating or extractor fan. Having seen other rooms in the hotel, they were lovely, yet we were given the worst one which was not reflected in price in my opinion.

The staff were all excellent! They were great over the phone in preparation for our late arrival to provide food for when we arrived. They changed the broken bed side lamp immediately, provided a newspaper, were friendly and helpful. Can't fault the efficiency and friendliness. The breakfast was good. And they provided coeliac sausages and bread when reminded of coeliac food needed, in advance.

The rooms were very dated, not worth 85 a night, but you get breakfast included and you pay for the Manor with location and views. The room was not clean, there was dust in many places, the shower was dangerous, up 2 steps into a tiny shower which was poor, the bedding wasn't clean, the furniture was dated and mismatched. We had an old TV stand in the corner wedged against the bedside table which had the kettle and tea etc on. Just wasn't what we expected.

We were not told there was no food available when we arrived so we had to take a taxi down the road to have an evening meal after the four of us arrived tired from long car journeys. The paintwork was flakey and untidy in the entrance hall to our room and the bathroom. My daughter in law mentioned one of the towels had a hole in although we did not report this. I reported the bedside lamp in our room not working.

The road leading up to it is a single lane road which you just need to take care on. The building we were in the heating was on maximum to the point of uncomfortable. The radiators were boiling hot. Unfortunately the whole time we were there the wifi was not working for us even though the staff really did try their hardest to get it up and running. We came back on one evening while a function was on, the car park was rammed full, we really did struggle for parking.

The buildings and grounds are nice and it is used for weddings we believe. Overall it did have a nice old world feel to it. Breakfasts were also of a decent standard.

The foreign language instructions, especially the so-called 'French' version, on the emergency procedure in the event of fire were totally unintelligible to a native speaker (probably used machine translation so gobble-de-gook). The hotel needs to ensure that all these instructions in different languages are written by native speakers because if guests do not know English, they would find it impossible to know what to do in an emergency - so important for safety!

Lovely old manor house set in beautiful gardens with views towards the bridge over the Sirhowy River in Blackwood. Comfy bed in well appointed room, with added bonus of tea/coffee making facilities. Chairs upside down blocking off table which were sticking out at angles and were pretty dangerous for children. Suggestion . .put people with young children near the breakfast or it takes ages to get everything and it's pretty difficult to keep an eye on them whilst getting the breakfast things.

    Beautiful gardens.

As an over 60's couple we had to climb two flights of stairs and we were in an attic room which we had to have the windows open all night as it was very hot in the room could have done with air conditioning to be honest.

Location is great. Staff were polite and helpful.

The foyer was dark and looked like a cinema. The bedroom was very small and unbearably hot. The radiator was turned off but we still had to open the windows as much as possible to make it acceptable. The windows were both damaged so it wasn't possible to open them fully. The bathroom was sweltering with no means of turning down the heat presumably because of under floor heating.Through the open windows we could hear an extractor/generator which came on at 6.30am and went off at about midnight. At breakfast there was no-one to greet us or explain the system. We had to wait while every aspect of breakfast was replenished. The toaster was an inefficient 'conveyor belt' type which barely warmed the bread. The very young waitresses wandered disconsolately through the dining-room, there seemed to be no supervision by older members of staff. We were due to stay 2 nights but asked if we could leave after only 1 night without penalty. The receptionist was worrying helpful about this when I told her we would like to leave. She did not ask what the problem was or offer to ameliorate the situation. Presumably this happens so often!

    Absolutely nothing.

The central heating was on during a heatwave. Had to open all windows fully, far too hot to sleep. The catering staff couldn't cope at breakfast time. The self service aspect meant that hot drinks went cold whilst queuing for hot food going cold because the lids were left off containers. Also bacon was very undercooked.

Very nice room but the grandeur was tired. The bath panelling was protruding away from the bath.

Poor staff service. Bar staff didn't no what they were doing and breakfast very poor. No fresh tea [stewed in a big pot for everyone to use. When i woke in the mornig there were ants all over the dressing table. When I paid the bill, which was well over £200 and ordered a coffee to sit in the foyer, the manager would not let me take the daily newspaper off reception to read. As you see wonderful customer service. I would not stay here again.

Both rooms were stiflingly hot which made sleeping difficult without the window open which was fine until 6am when the kitchen extractors started. If you feel the cold then Room 11 would be perfect for you!

The room was small but perfect for one night. The restaurant menu was basic but the food was well cooked and the waitresses were friendly. The breakfast was very good.

Nowhere was in reach without a car, e.g. choice of restaurants, probably not possible as this is a country hotel. We stayed in to eat, which was fine, and got a bit bored after dinner. The trick is to bring our own games another time! The barman lent us some cards so at least we had these and newspapers. I can see this would be a perfect venue for weddings and events, with everything laid on in a great setting. Would definitely stay there again when walking the Brecon Beacons.

Lovely staff, very helpful, good food, very good deal for a weekend. Brilliant big room and bathroom, grounds to walk around. Perfect location for a walking weekend, and the grounds were full of birdsong. We picked out about 10 different birds.

The heat of the rooms. All radiators were turned up to max. The shower over the bath was a joke, i.e. the hose was too short and the shower head was pathetic, old, semi- blocked etc. The second room allocated was next to the car park and had a security light above it. The room blinds were beige, which meant tho room was hardly dark. The initial room allocated was on the first floor above where there was going to be a wedding evening do that was due to finish at 0100. An enquiry to the guest whether they are attending the wedding in advance of arrival would inform room allocation and not be embarrassing on arrival. Finally, the breakfast was ok, provided principally for wedding guests.

The receptionist allocated another room without question when our first room had a leaking radiator

The bed squeaked every time you moved. The room was unbearably hot which was coming via pipes in room not radiators. So had a really bad nights sleep. The shower was broken too. The food was not very nice as bland and the profiteroles were still frozen

NO BREAKFAST! They'd lost their gas supply! Although I guess it wasn't their fault, it was included in the price and I always look forward to a Hotel Breakfast as a treat away from home. The young barman was a little surly and could cheer up a bit!

It was comfortable. The staff were friendly enough. It suited our purposes as we had a business meeting in close proximity.

The receptionist who checked us out had little or no customer service skills. I have been a hotel manager and a cruise ship front desk manager for many years and I would have been disappointed if I'd witness a member of my staff dealing with a guest who was dealing with an issue. This receptionist has to accept that dealing with guest issues are part of their job and how they deal with these issues can make or break a guest experience.

The first receptionist who checked us in was lovely and so helpful. The bar staff and the gentleman who served us during the Monday were an absolute credit to the hotel.
