Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI found the bed nice and firm and slept well. My partner found the mattress too hard. The room was rather cold if I remember rightly. (It was a particulary chilly day.) I think an electric heater was provided.
The location was excellent , close to the canal ; great eateries and historic sites. The building itself is interesting as it is The Old Post Office The host was friendly and welcoming and helpful. The room was lovely and very clean. Tastefully decorated and comfortable. Nice shower room and plentiful towels. We enjoyed our stay very much. Quiet location. Would stay again and recommend.

NetherlandsThere was very little interaction with the staff at the lodge itself as there wasn't a real reception with anyone present and the two people I did briefly see didn't seem to speak fluent English. Also, you can hear people and cars outside as well as other guests.
The staff was quick to respond when I arrived a little earlier than planned. The location is perfect for walks around Hythe; to the shops, cafes and the beautiful church as well as through the park to the beach. Parking is just around the corner (paid during the day).

United KingdomWe thought that the battery for the smoke alarm in our room may have run out. There's no real meet and great - just a brief handover of the keys. A reception area with staff you could talk to or a lounge/dining room would make it a bit more personable but for a short stay it was fine.
Excellent location, large room, had an ensuite bathroom and good facilities. Comfortable beds. Hythe is a fascinating place.. a winding high street full of independent shops, cafes, restaurants inc Nepalese and Turkish, music shop, art shop, plant shop, bookshop etc. the church is C12/13 and has the largest collection of ancient skulls (open Easter onwards) and the Napoleonic Military Canal skirts the marshes to Rye and on into Sussex for 28 miles, now a wildlife haven and walking/cycling trail. Then you get to the sea! The town spreads down the hill and rambling stairways interject the high street…

FranceThe shower door was broken (the staff were aware and waiting for a replacement) and the main light in the bathroom did not work. The room was really quite small for 2, the kettle had to be unplugged from the socket to be filled, and the traffic in the street was quite noticeable in the morning.
Room and bathroom very clean. Good selection of soap, tea, coffee

United KingdomThe Triton electric shower is a bit weak and we spotted a small amount of dust on the border tiles in the bathroom, but otherwise very clean. Talking of dust, the dustmen were a bit noisy at 7.15am but it was a Tuesday, so just one of those things. Apart from that it was nice and quiet.
This property is in a great location at the best end of the High Street, close to shops, restaurants and bars. We were very pleased with our room and the ensuite bathroom. It was under different owners last time we stayed, but the new ones are doing a great job.

United Kingdomparking was the only thing that made the stay a little more difficult as I was travelling & moving multiple bags with children. There is a pay & display car park very close to the property& we also found on street parking along a nearby lane, so overall it wasn’t a huge problem. It was more the unloading & loading of the car being an adult travelling alone with children.
Location of the property was brilliant, right by all the shops & easy to find. The property was immaculate & extremely comfortable. The beds were very comfortable & the bathroom was modern. In addition to tea & coffee making facilities there were biscuits, cereal bars, fruit & bottles of water, which I was extremely appreciative of as I had forgotten to get supplies before the shops had shut.
