There were no items to complain about, even the weather was helping to make our stay pleasant.

A classical setting surrounded by a nice park and hosted by a very friendly staff, what else does one need ! From Mansfield Castle there are plenty thing to do in the environment. A two or three day stay easily fills a program for sightseeing, golf and walking tours. Diner facilities in associated Morangie hotel satisfactory too. The hotel runs it own bar with all the whisky brands and a knowledgeable staff to advise.

In our room, the phone to reception did not work, the television did not work, and the heat did not work. The manager did bring us a plug in heater.

The staff was wonderful. Friendly and very helpful. Even gave us a lift to dinner.

General Manager named John used a piece of paper to copy my credit card details. This is not acceptable, it was not secure and is open to fraud. I have no guarantee or reassurance on who had visibility of my personal credit card details or how they were used. None of the other hotels I visit ever ask for these details. There was no need for these details as I was paying my bill the next day, which would have been paid using my pin. No BBC TV channels Disappointed that it did not have an on site restaurant.

    Comfortable room, friendly helpful staff

Unfortunately we were not able to stay at the Mansfield Castle due to work being done (due to a water leak we were told) and were accommodated in their sister hotel, The Morangie Hotel in Tain

This review relates to the sister hotel The Morangie House Hotel where we were given a Superior Room and some complimentary drinks to compensate for the inconvenience. The house was impressive enough although I cannot compare to The Mansfield Castle. The upgraded superior room was very nice with complementary water (even changed one of the bottles of still for a sparkling when requested) and biscuits with the tea/coffee in the room. It was a large room, comfortable bed, good en suite facilities. Evening meal was tasty and plentiful, poor selection of beer though (no local draught or bottles). Excellent selection for breakfast.

Facility was a bit tired. Rooms were cold upon arrival, waited until heat for the entire facility was turned on. An extra towel would have been helpful, the one was thin.

We booked the Mansfield but were lodged at the Morangie Hotel due to furnace problems at the Castle. Staff was friendly and helpful.

We had to go through a maze of corridors and stairs to get to our room. If you have mobility issues the stairs and corridors would be an issue.

It felt as if it was a time capsule from the 1970's.. The bed was the least comfortable from my 10 day (so far) trip. My room was up a flight, down a hallway, down a flight several turns, more stairs. In the morning I went out an open fire door and walked straight around the building, no stairs, twists and turns.

The ambiance was of a highland great house from the 1970's. The quirky architecture I found interesting and amusing. Breakfast was excellent. The staff were pleasant.
