The staff were so warm and welcoming, they enjoyed having a chat and a joke or two. The facilities were fantastic, the photos don't do this property justice, it's better in real life. The best dining experience we had while in Scotland was at the buffet breakfast, anything and everything you could ask for at breakfast was there and at top quality. We didn't want to leave.

The bed and pillows where rock hard so not the most comfortable to sleep on unfortunately.

Lovely staff in all departments, offering information about the local transport and helpful throughout stay.

Reluctant to put anything as a negative these aren't really negatives more suggestions . I think the pool facility would benefit from a jacuzzi being installed then it would be perfect as currently there isn't one however there is certainly a space where a custom fit one could be installed. Bit of a queue to be seated for breakfast so I think doubling up staff to seat guests would ease that at busy times.

Its a lovely well looked after place. Nice clean comfortable rooms. Nice swimming pool at a decent temperature and very good sauna and steam room. Excellent breakfast with good quality ingredients and very friendly professional staff. Well looked after grounds. I will most certainly recommend a stay at this hotel and shall return.

We booked one of the hotel restaurants when we booked in at the desk...we tried to change the time later and were told that restaurant wasn't even open that night! Seemed a bit odd that the desk booked us into somewhere that was closed! Ate in the bar instead, menu was pretty limited though. Room could probably do with a bit of modernising.

Room was a good size and comfy enough, we slept well. Location of the hotel is good, only ~20 min drive into the city centre attractions. Nice grounds.

Nothing! The only suggestion my Husband would make is to include a free round of golf for a two night stay 😀

We were very lucky to get an upgrade to a four poster period room in the main house, which was beautiful and very clean. Housekeeping refreshed our room and were very friendly. The staff in the cocktail bar were fantastic, very friendly and helpful.

When we arrived the room we had booked was unavailable as they allocate rooms on the day. Initially allocated a room which was less spacious than the room we booked. However the hotel did address this and upgraded us but only after we complained gave us The hotels 3 restaurants did not cater for any food allergies/intolerances. On the menus they have the allergens stated but have not considered any dietary requirements. They were unable to provide a gluten free meal in any of the three restaurants. Long walk to the room from reception. May not be suitable for elderly or frail people.

Quality accommodation with a good view after we complained about the previous room offered. Staff were friendly

The service at the golf club can be improved. A bit disorganised. We ordered 2 burgers for dinner and it took close to an hour to come.

Good size swimming pool and gym. Two queen beds in room means we can share the room with our son. Big compound with nature trail. Walked to a bird hide which was very interesting to be able to see different types of birds.

Breakfast was a bit hit and miss with staff. We weren’t offered tea or coffee at table and had to ask to a pot of tea. Also didn’t like the self service option for coffee /tea with takeaway cups. I don’t want a coffee out of a machine. We only got 1 bottle of water each in our room and this was not replenished each day.

Lovely location. Good sized rooms and very clean. Spa looked inviting but we didn’t have time to try it

It is a fair walk to the bus stop into Edinburgh, which I hadn’t realised. There were a few smiles from staff but generally not a very happy atmosphere. On the first night we had an unfortunate start as we had booked into the restaurant for dinner. I ordered a beetroot salad with citrus dressing. Three times I had to send it back because it wasn’t supposed to have horseradish on it, which I dislike. So I didn’t get anything to eat for an hour or more. In the end I cancelled the starter as my husband was on his main course. I was told that the regular chef was not there that night as I had asked to speak with him. Needless to say we didn’t eat there again.

I liked the setting although it was predominantly a golfing clientele. We were able to borrow umbrellas, which was useful. Also we were provided with extra hangers.

The extractor fan didn't work in the bathroom and though it was reported, it wasn't seen to be fixed during our two night stay.

The room was comfortable and clean as was the whole hotel that we saw. Lovely leisure facilities and the meals we had were beautiful. Excellent value in the restaurants.

Nice stay in a great location with amazing breakfast. Let down a little by poor sound insulation.

Beds could be softer but overall were good, and poor sound insulation in rooms so noisy families will easily and loudly filter in. Bathroom wasn't great. Toilet seat was fitted too close to the overhanging counter so you can't lift it up without holding it up yourself. Grout around the bath was spotted with black marks. And the bathroom fan is running 24/7 with no way to turn it off, and is easily heard even with the door fully closed. Not ideal for a quiet night sleep. The road leading up to the building is absolutely riddled with steep speedbumps and a few nasty potholes.

Breakfast was amazing, definitely go for that if you stay. Extremely handy location near the airport, and away from the city so it's quiet. Building is great with lovely grounds. Staff were very pleasant.

We went for dinner which was disappointing ,we waited for half an hour then our pizza came which was thick and doughy and fell fired , .chips were hot though.

My husband and I chose to stay the night for his retirement although the room was fine I asked if we had a good view , in reply she said unfortunately not its first come first served,l also asked if we could have a wee upgrade which in reply was the same answer first come first served . When I booked I did politely asked for one one .

Very hard to find Yr room especially with luggage. Next to no vegan options on the menus, other than the usual veggie burger...that was disappointing and breakfast was poor, staff didn't seem to be coping, hot foot was disappointing, tables dirty and nothing vegan other than cold veggie sausages. Breakfast was chaotic which was a shame.

Our room was nice and big, nice towels and toiletries. Staff were friendly especially in the bar & restaurant

The room although comfortable was noisy due to the boiler room noise making sleeping difficult. I requested a gluten free breakfast as my friend is a coeliac. Many people follow gluten free diets from choice not necessity but for coeliacs it is critical to their good health. The hotel makes some effort in this, pointing out items containing gluten, providing some gluten free cereals and a choice of boiled eggs or omelette from a kitchen, which they state they cannot guarantee is safe. In addition the items that were available were not sufficiently separated and potentially subject to contamination. For an establishment of this quality this is unacceptable. Almost all the items in the cooked breakfast can be made available gluten free, for example sausages and bread. A separate toaster and gluten free bread is provided in most hotels. Many, more humble establishments are able to guarantee their food is gluten free by providing a ' safe space' in their kitchens and I am surprised that it is not the case. If as stated the cost of a breakfast at the hotel is £21 then they should be ashamed of their current provision. As she did not feel safe my friend did not avail herself of the breakfast during her stay. Consultation with the coeliac society might be helpful.

Facilities were very good pool and golf facilities in particular, although sadly was not able to play the courses on this occasion.

Staff slow in the brasserie and did take our concerns seriously about our room door being opened, all sorted.

The first room we had was great, whilst my wife was on her own in the room someone opened the room door. She thought it was me when she called my name the person closed the door and left. At first the hotel staff did take this seriously, they agreed to move us to a different room in fact they upgraded us to a 2 room suite.
