Road up to property a bit rough but not unusual in Skye. Only the last 3 miles out of around 15 miles from Portree. Impression on booking site was that it was close to Portree but was in fact 1/2 an hour away, something we didn't realise until reading some reviews the night before going. Neither of the above spoilt our stay.

Beautiful location. Property very comfy, cosy and clean. Well fitted out with everything we needed for our stay. Helpful maps and tourist information in property. History of that area very interesting and provided in property. Dog friendly. Car parking

Host didn’t know we had booked the property, we turned up to the main hotel to get the pin for the lockbox to our cottage and the hosts looked at us if we were lost travellers. When I advised we had booked the property they replied “have you? Well it must have been just in the last 5 minutes”, no not really it was booked in the morning and we arrived late in the evening. I’m assuming it’s because we booked during January which is their quiet season but the hotel wasn’t open, neither was the kitchen for dinner or breakfast. Since the property is located in the most remote part of the island we felt somewhat stranded without a proper meal, it is a good 45 minute drive into any major location to get a takeaway or eat in. Road leading to the property isn’t ideal due to its remote location, lots of bendy roads and very narrow without streetlights, once you get close to the property it becomes narrow gravel path.

Luxurious property, well kept and clean. Bed was one of the comfiest I’ve ever experienced. Complimentary tea and coffee left in property which was a nice touch. Enjoyed our stay.

Settee very uncomfortable when you sat on it would sink down Despite stating property was in Portree was in fact 30 minutes from Portree. Very remote. Due to this distance there was a few places further south of the island we were unable to do as too far.

Beautiful property with amazing views. Warm and clean

The listing made it sound like the property was very close to Portree - given how windy, pothole impacted and generally challenging to drive, that description was a bit misleading. I think the service around the restaurant needs some process and availability improvements. All guests should be able to easily access a table for diner. When one reads there is a restaurant on site, you assume this is for the guests of the inn. I suggest improving the communication up front with the room reservation. Something like: Are you planning to dine with us? If so check the boxes here. Then, pushing the guest to a dinner reservation system. In general, a guest should be able to have access to breakfast and some kind of hot meal at night. I heard I needed a reservation 7 days before I arrived for breakfast and dinner. I secured the breakfasts no problem but was only able to reserve for one night in advance and put on a “standby list” for my second night stay. Then, after I arrived, I received notification while I was out for the day sightseeing that I had indeed a spot for that evening’s meal. I was relieved to get it because driving in the dark home would have been a real drag for us on the main road. I witnessed a couple come into the Inn after a harrowing ten hour drive and told they would not be able to have dinner that night. There should be something available for every guest.

The setting was beautiful. The spaciousness of the room, and the overall comfort. I really liked having a restaurant, bar and setting space so close by because the effort to go out and eat elsewhere was challenging with the state of main road to the property.

Being a steading the soundproofing wasn’t great and were aware our dog’s barking might have disturbed other guests.

Loved the secluded location and lack of light pollution as it made for amazing stargazing in the evening. The property was a real home from home with everything you needed. Staff were lovely.

We stayed for 3 nights with my little dog, superb location, picturesque views. Apartment was great size with everything we needed. Log fire and maybe a bath tub would have got it a 10 but that’s just being picky! We had a lovely meal in the restaurant, would definitely recommend this, the food and service were great, shout out to Josh!

Beautiful cozy apartments in the North-west of Skye. The apartment is big, and perfectly decorated. The kitchen has everything that you need to cook a proper dinner. During the cold nights on Skye there's also a cute heater near the sofa. There is a window in front of the sofa with a stunning view on the wild nature of Skye. There is also a little window in the shower, so you can look at nature while showering. Highly recommended!

Although the area is quiet - there is a room above with thin wooden floors and you can hear the guests walking around if they are heavy footed. Such beautiful views - yet hardly any windows to enjoy the view from inside.

What a lovely stay - definitely the highlight of our Scotland trip. Accommodation was cosy and quiet. The views were just beautiful. Great space for a family. Nice and clean. Located in the north part of the island so close enough access to the sights. Furthest area of interest was the fairy pools which was about 50 mins away. They have a laundry room that guests can use which was such a great help.

Upmarket and comfortable self contained compartment, with all the required facilities. This is a remote location, which is a strong attraction, but it's important to ensure you do a thorough shop before you arrive! Excellent location to explore north Skye and convenient to the Uig to Tarbert ferry port. Would stay here again

The windows are small, due to the constraints of the original historic structure. But the inside lighting makes it cheerful and functional. We had meals at the table outside overlooking the spectacular view.

The peaceful setting, the crisp comfort of the space, so thoughtfully constructed, the hospitality, the views from the outside space. We visited Portree and after 20 minutes fled back to the peace of Monkstadt.
