Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomHad to stipulate when I would arrive at breakfast. Couldn’t just turn up. Could do with better toilet paper which was too thin! Bath/shower could do with upgrade
Clean both rooms and buildings. Rooms comfortable. Breakfast was OK. Staff were brilliant. I enjoyed my stay.

United KingdomThe twin room we were allocated was so small we had to plan who was moving where next in room. Our suitcase was constantly moved to let us get around! The bathroom was minute too. The room needed refurbishing. A first for us as we'd always been satisfied with our room on every occasion. One thing that really bugs me! You leave info about where to put towels you want to changing so that other, unused ones were not unnecessarily laundered. Excellent. It never happened. All towels in room were changed every day. What a waste of money, our planets resources, and effort to get it right. Breakfast was not as good as usual
Been staying at the mill since it first opened. Location is great for the city and the staff are consistently friendly and professional.

United KingdomBeds were uncomfortable and the extractor fan was broken in the room. Also it wasn’t made obvious it was £9 a day parking. Not to mention the padlock to keep your car safe was broken and smashed bottled glass on the entrance. Which when you pay the amount you had to it would be nice not to worry about puncturing your tyres.
The spa was good and a good location.

United KingdomNothing to criticise
The hotel, which is in easy reach of the railway station, is also within easy walking distance of all the main places of interest in the old city. The location of the hotel by a canal is lovely. All the staff with whom we came into contact were very pleasant, cheerful and helpful. The rooms were of a good size, and the beds were big and comfortable.

United KingdomBreakfast was adequate but not special. For the hot food there was scrambled egg (watery) fried egg, bacon (covered in that unpleasant white stuff) hash browns, beans and tomatoes but no mushrooms and no black pudding. I have had worse but also much better. There was a good selection of cereals and fruit juice as well as croissants and toast.
Room excellent, spacious and comfortable. Lots of room in the bathroom too.

United KingdomThe rooms bathroom, although spotlessly clean and spacious with a large vanity shelf had a bath and not walk in shower. The bath had a shower from the taps. Surprisingly though it was quite powerful and the water temperature really good. Only real quibble was it was a tad dated. Also could with a shelf for shower gels etc and possibly an upgrade to walk in shower. I do realise though that some people do like a bath.
Bedroom was large and well appointed. Plenty of storage for a weekend break. Bed was very comfortable. Also had a good size TV. The room was spotlessly clean and everything was well maintained. The breakfast was superb. The dining room is spacious and airy. The hot help yourself buffet was excellent. Plenty of it and always hot. One really good touch was that toast was already made, so no waiting in a queue for either underdone or burnt toast from one of those rotary machines. The breakfast staff were all helpful and attentive. The pool area and sauna also spotlessly clean and well maintained. The bar is large and well stocked and not over priced, bar staff also excellent. Check in was a breeze. Hotel also has a large car park opposite the main entrance which is free for the duration of your stay.

United KingdomThe bathroom layout was a bit awkward with the light outside, toilet behind the door when it was open, and a lack of towel hooks, but these were minor inconveniences.
Had a really nice stay. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was really well organised and the host was very friendly and polite. Having access to the pool and fitness centre was nice. We tried the pool and it was a good size and not overrun with guests. Staff were helpful with requests. Location was great; close to the train and town centre. We would stay again.

United KingdomVery little to dislike about our stay. The only really small thing was that the spa could have been slightly cleaner, but definitely didn't put us off.
Really nice hotel. The spa was a great bonus and no restrictions on use. Rooms are clean and comfortable and quite spacious, decor is plain but absolutely fine. Very good access to central Chester. Parking outside was convenient and a reasonable rate. Would stay here again.

United KingdomThe Jacuzzi bath did NOT work in Room 516. TV channel 802 did NOT work ever. (The channel that's supposed to tell you about the facilities in the hotel) We reported it but nothing happened. NO towel rails at all which is ridiculous. These 3 things were very disappointing!
We were upgraded on arrival to Room 516 which could have been perfect. Breakfast was top marks. Location great. Bed comfortable. Towels soft & fluffy. Housekeeping were great. Everything very clean. Staff lovely flexible & helpful. Evening meal very good with great dining room Staff.
