Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. The only downside was the roadworks happening just opposite the property, which unfortunately woke us up quite early — though of course this isn’t the host’s fault and was beyond their control.
We absolutely loved our stay at Meadow View — it was the perfect location, spotlessly clean, wonderfully cosy, and had everything we needed for a relaxing and comfortable break.

The only thing (and I am really clutching at straws here) is we couldn’t find any cloths to keep things clean.
Great location, well equipped and comfortable, it was ideal for our group of 3 people sharing.

Lighting in the kitchen near the hob was poor
Loverly warm, tidy house which is nicely decorated and set out . It was perfect for our stay. Really well located for the town centre we could walk everywhere 😀

Mattresses were very soft and springy, could do with a deeper clean (lots of dust around the lights and some of the cutlery etc felt a bit greesy)

The key box was difficult to open; I couldn't do it and my husband had to take over. The kitchen could have been a little cleaner and some cutlery looked like it hadn't been washed. There could have been a towel in the downstairs loo and a blind in the bathroom.
The location was superb. I really liked the size of the bathroom. The kitchen was well-equipped.

This is no more than a matter of personal taste, but we might have welcomed blinds or curtains of some description at the kitchen and downstairs cloakroom windows. Whilst the lack of them doesn't compromise one's privacy particularly, they'd simply "soften" those rooms and provide an extra sense of cosiness. And while we didn't fully comprehend the operation of the TV, we suspect that those of younger years would find it a doddle! These are not gripes, though, just subjective observations.
Meadow View is perfectly located, being just a short step away from Stamford's generous array of shops and eateries, and with immediate access to a number of circular walks into the surrounding countryside. As ours was a Christmas visit to meet up with family, we were delighted to discover that our hosts had thoughtfully provided a fully decorated and lit Christmas tree in the sitting room. The provision of other basics, such as loo rolls, handwash, tea, coffee, milk, sugar etc was beyond our expectations, as was the overall feeling that this was our home for a few days and not merely somewhere we were borrowing. We can attest, also, to its warmth and cosiness with the wind howling and rain lashing outside, whilst still providing all the elbow room four adults could require of it, both upstairs and down.

Was a little tired ie some areas require a little attention… doors on kitchen cabinets, staircase banisters, also no full length mirror.
