Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaThe plug ins in my room were not convenient for my CPAP equipment or charging my cell phone to be near my bed. I didn't know the reception was up a flight of stairs which meant I had to carry luggage after a long train journey up a flight to check in. I was VERY grateful for the elevator to the room floor.
I liked that it wasn't too hard to access from the Waverly train station The breakfast was amazing and kept me full till mid afternoon.

United KingdomFurniture a little tired. A room safe would of been appreciated. TV very small. The hotel is being renovated.
Hotei is close to the station, castle and restaurants. Nice big room, comfy bed, quiet at night. Good breakfast, best porridge! Would stay again.

GreeceUnfortunately our room didn't have a window at the street, so we only had a sealed window looking at the vaccant lot. But we didn't stay at the room for many hours so it was ok
Breakfast was just fine, with quite a few things at the buffet. Staff was always available and the choices for Scottish breakfast were delicious.

GermanyThe street in front of the hotel is quite busy even late at night, which can be heard from the rooms.
Very well located hotel in the New City, 3 minutes walking distance from the train station. We had a wonderful view from our room. The breakfast buffet offers typical Scottish food (haggis, sausages, black pudding) as well as the usual continental jam/butter/toast etc.

Czech RepublicWhen we booked the accommodation, the description said our room was with a "no view, frosted glass window" room. The truth was that the window could not be opened, was dark even during the day and I suspect it was a fake window. That meant we were fully depending on the air conditioning and what was the weather outside like we found out only in the breakfast room or upon leaving the hotel. This was the only downside - the price for the room was very reasonable, but to me it felt like living in a cellar. Also the water flow in the toillette was very weak and in some situations we had to flush several times to achieve the desired outcome ;-)
The location is absolutely perfect, within the walking distance to all important places. This allowed us to take even unplanned evening strolls to the Royal Mile or to Calton Hill. The scottish breakfast was nice, but on the continental offer you did not have a very wide choice. Nevertheless, we were very happy with the scottish offer and enjoyed it every morning. The porridge was not my favorite, but haggies is amazing. The staff was very friendly. We were accommodated in a spacious room - bigger than expected - with a huge bed, which we really enjoyed. The room was clean, the bathroom big.

United KingdomHealthy breakfast options were a bit limited but it's good that they offer to poach eggs for you upon request. A very minor point. Otherwise a great hotel stay
Very clean room, comfortable bed and good powerful hot shower. Best thing is the location being so close to the station and easy to walk to attractions.

United KingdomSome of the furnishings were dated. Lighting felt dim, could be worked on especially as the room had limited natural light from the window.
Stayed for one night to attend a gig. Location within 100m from Waverley station was very convenient. Room booked was upgraded on arrival which was a nice surprise to get a bit more space. Reception team were friendly and helpful.

NetherlandsIt is just that they took 30 something euro in case you did something in the room and they tell you that you will get it back in case everything is fine. I find it very weird. Coz I paid around more than 150€ per night and in case I ruined anything in the room I will not reject to pay 30 euro to fix it. Other than that every thing was just perfect.
The staff were super friendly and helpful. The location is amazing. I can assure that you can walk to all the touristic place (from 5 to 25 minutes). However, if walking is not your thing you can easily take the tram, bus or even train (1 min walk from the hotel). Breakfast is good too. Simple English breakfast. Honestly I really enjoyed my stay and I will definitely come back to Scotland and to the same hotel.

United KingdomDated decor, room had no natural light (but we were forewarned so made that choice of economy over view). I found the bed very soft and didn't sleep well during my stay (but my husband liked the bed so, again, that's a preference rather than a problem)
Friendly, central location but quiet/relaxing, clean and sizeable room, fabulous shower, delicious breakfast, good value for money.
