Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomPlease note, there is no parking at the property but we were able to park on St Mary's Road which is about 5 mins from the cottage. This is an uphill walk onto a busy road so be aware of that. That being said, you can briefly park outside the cottage to load/unload your vehicle to save you catering luggage and shopping up and downhill. If you have mobility issues it may be a problem for you but we were okay. The shower handle is very stiff, and there is a knack for turning it. Use your palm to hold in the button and grip and twist if you have any issues. My only real gripe, because we were very happy with the cottage and location was that it is stated as dog friendly. Which is true but there is a sign inside stating no dogs upstairs, and we have a dog with separation anxiety that sleeps on a bed next to us usually (we bring her own bed) . So the first night one of us ended up sleeping downstairs on the sofa to be in the room with her. Overall very happy and are already planning on returning.
Lovely little cottage that's been renovated to a modern standard inside. Overall very clean and very tidy with all of the equipment you would need at home and in a kitchen. The wifi is decent and you can get a good 5g signal on Vodafone in the area. The TV has all of the apps to sign into to watch your shows. Situated next to the town where local shops and an evening takeaway are easily available. If you turn right out of the property you will quickly come to the path of the Millennium walkway, a beautiful rock surrounded river for a walk and area to take your dog for a dip and skip stones. If you walk up St Mary's Road opposite the property there is a lovely park on the left hand side. Lots of space and equipment surrounded by trees. The host is very responsive and answers any questions quickly.

United KingdomI didint like the fact that on the advertisement stated “ free parking “ which I assumed would be outside of the cottage (I.e drive way)I had to drive nearly 10 minutes away. Also wasn’t pleased with The shower knob, it was stiff to turn the shower on & The four posted bed was very noisy, every time I turned in bed it would make a rattling sound.
Spacious rooms, cosy setting.

United KingdomI think you need to sort the master bed out as your unable to sit on the bed without the metal frame digging in your legs. This is due to it being lower than the framework.
Nice house in good area. Liked that streaming services on TV were included

United KingdomWhen T.V. was on, when it was idle. Memories of someones photos showed explicit images of woman came up on tv. screen. Be careful if children present. I received an email saying the keysafe code had three nines in it, when there was actually 3 sixes in the code numbers not three nines. Not complaining just making aware.
Fabulous all round. Definitely book again.

IrelandWe had issues with the shower as it would not turn off without a fight. It seemed like something was missing from the mixer part. Jono responded to our message quickly and came the next morning to see if he could fix it for us. Note to people with bad backs, the beds are soft so that can cause issues.
House is next to the train station and around the corner from multiple cafes and restaurants. Location is fantastic in a very cute town. We could see the millenium walkway from the kitchen window. Check in is easy with a lockbox key and house is clean and warm. Host is very responsive to messages if anything is needed.

United KingdomVery uncomfortable mattress in main double room-needs replacing -very soft and difficult to get into/out of via the metal frame..also rickety 4 poster frame.. No bedside lamps-LED ones didn’t work No lamp in bunk room-also rickety frame. Not enough kitchen utensils/crockery-only one wine glass/3 spoons/etc-needs a good re stock to include basic cooking items such as wooden spoons/salad bowl/6 of everything rather than 4(a big crack in one main dinner plates)cafetière would also be great addition. Property on very busy main road-no parking -load/unloading difficult and parking some distance away.would not recommend if you have small children …

United KingdomThere is definitely no parking. Had difficulty finding a space & had quite a walk. The stairs are very steep & although didn’t cause us a problem, someone older or less mobile would struggle. The property could have been cleaner, cobwebs & dust etc clearly visible. An info sheet might also have been helpful for WiFi & heating. Although the host responded straight away when we asked how to work the heating.
Good location for New Mills. Had big smart TV Plenty of storage Great Shower All facilities to cook/eat in if required

United KingdomThe sofa was very uncomfortable and would not be suitable for more than 2 people but we were only staying for one night so didn’t matter. The bed was comfy but the frame was in line with the mattress so wasn’t easy to get in/ out of in the night. Few cobwebs etc and the parking was an issue. Ended up parking on a local street with quite a long walk up a hill and there was roadworks outside the property so we could not drop our bags off.
Great rural location, close to Glossop and other neighbouring Peak villages. Good facilities and very spacious for a couple (could be overcrowded with anymore). Sweets were a nice touch and the property overall was nice and tidy.

United KingdomUnfortunately, whilst being a lovely house , the cleanliness let it down . There was no problem with the surface cleaning or the bedding and towels but the floor clearly hadn’t been washed and our socks were filthy which resulted in me cleaning the floor downstairs my self. The skirting boards and around the windows didn’t look like they had been cleaned in a long time and smelt of dogs . It just needs a step up with the cleaning and this would make this a brilliant little house to stay at . Oh and there is no teaspoons ! Could do with abit more attention on the kitchen utensils and cutlery for guests who want to cook .
The holiday let was modern and comfortable in a good area for walks in the Peak District . Not too far away to drive to locations such as kinder scout or Castleton , but also good for several walks right from the door. The host looks like they have put a lot of effort into making the house nice for guests , with tea , coffee and lollipops from the local swizzles factory and a couple of guide books, which we used one day being a nice touch .
