The condition of the decor of my room, (water damage to the ceiling, clearly visible). The shower took ages to get up to warm.

Hotel was undergoing renovation at the time. Many areas unfinished. My room was spacious and clean but showing water damage to the ceiling. Staff were extremely friendly, polite and helpful, particularly the receptionist. The breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked to order.

Several stairs up to our third floor room. Not easy for the elderly or infirm.

We were pre warned of ongoing renovations and some of the snags hadn't been finished in the bathroom but again we weren't in the room much

Great location would have preferred a sea view but we didn't spend much time in our room, breakfast was freshly cooked and plenty of it to set us up for a walk about, great transport links ,we went to Saltburn, Durham, Middlesbrough,and Whitby.

Our room was dated and tatty. Bathroom looked newly refurbished, but no bath, just a shower and window needs replacing as old and moldy

Communal areas, bar, restaurant were lovely, clean and well presented.

The bedroom was in need of a revamp, but we had a brand new bathroom and the rest of the hotel is currently being renovated, so I'm sure it's on the list!!

Fantastic breakfast with plenty of choice, staff were lovely and very helpful. We booked to eat in the carvery, which was excellent value for money with plenty of choice for everyone. The staff again were very helpful. Our room was spacious with a brand new bathroom. The bedroom itself was clean and tidy and is obviously waiting for a revamp to match the bathroom, but was very comfortable. The housekeeping lady was very helpful too. It is our 2nd visit and we would definitely return!

There was some renovation going on but it didn't effect our stay at all, we would love to come back to see how it turns out!

Such friendly helpful welcoming staff, lovely home cooked food and a comfortable clean room. We booked last minute for the Easter weekend, expecting just to get somewhere a bit rubbish, but we had the best stay here and were pleasantly surprised!

Our room was a bit of a trek from reception - though one of the staff kindly carried our heavy suitcase up several stairways on arrival. All the bathrooms currently being replaced through the hotel made for quite a bit of mess, some of the carpark taken up by equipment etc., but work appeared almost finished and the staff coped admirably.

Staff 'above & beyond' throughout, charming Northern hospitality. Room was spacious and clean, good tea/coffee facilities and additional supplies on request. Bathroom just been reconditioned, new shower cubical (a little cramped perhaps) wash basin etc., always hot water. Very good breakfast, first two morning was individually cooked to order and served by the chef, third morning from the buffet.

It was supposed to be a suite but wouldn’t call a table and two chairs a suite, no mirror on dressing table, no power in the shower

Hotel having renovations, would have been nice to have been told when we booked. Room was okay but walking through a building site to get there. Not the best stay, paid for the convenience but would have stayed elsewhere until renovations have finished

The beach is really close and the view from the room is really nice. The bathtub is really big and comfortable. The bed was just the right size, really comfortable and soft. The room size was really nice. Very tasty breakfast as well 24/7 drink bar. The service was really kind and helpful

Staff absolutely brilliant, really helpful and very friendly. Room was upgraded to a lovely suite, very clean and comfortable. Sea view was great and within walking distance of everything. Would definitely return.
