The spa was in a separate building and was sadly a little lower in quality than the hotel.

We were not impressed that the hotel was being used as a court during the daytime, and most of the facilities are off-bounds during the day, until 5pm. We even had to go ‘the long way round’ to get to our room, and there was a security guard sat almost adjacent to our room due to the court. The restaurant was also very poorly presented, cold and not welcoming at all. However; as mentioned, the food was far better than what we had imagined and expected.

The location was absolutely perfect for us and the hotels grounds and buildings were very grand, clean and well presented. The restaurant food was exceptional and definitely the highlight of the stay, we really didn’t expect the quality to match the atmosphere.

Clean rooms with all we needed for overnight. All the staff we encountered were lovely. Pretty garden. Range of food for breakfast was good.

WiFi was really bad so we couldn't connect to the apps they had available on the TV. Pool and jacuzzi were shut last minute which was a shame and paid same price for hotel. Carpets were stained and quite noisy hallways where other people were staying shouting late at night

There was nothing to dislike.

Room was clean and a good size, we had the standard double for one night. Bathroom was clean and the shower was really good. Bed was comfortable. Beautiful settings, lovely hotel, don’t know about the Spa facilities as we didn’t use them. Good selection of drinks at the bar. We didn’t eat at the hotel so can’t comment on the food. Staff were really friendly and helpful.

I know it’s a listed building so it’s tricky but the room was very dated and there was no sound deadening and the entrance door didn’t meet the floor so I could hear everything in the hall and the room next door like they were in with me.

The bathroom was modern and the room had everything I needed. It was also nice not to charged a fortune for parking

It was a great close location to the venue we were going to. The food in the restaurant was awesome. Freshly made curry that was great.

Mid information regarding bar closing time. Paperwork and reception staff informed me that bar closed at midnight. I arrived at the bar at 10.50 to be told that I could have a drink but would take it to my room! 5 other residents were also there and were as put out as me. After one other resident’s persistence they finally succumbed to allow us one more drink. Atmosphere with bar staff was not good and they left, but duty manager was the only one who saw that it was not a good advertisement for the hotel and worked to resolve it.

No EV charging capability and it is looking a little tired (rust on bath edge and chipped wood). Relatively expensive - but happy to pay in this instance (special occasion), probably wouldn’t pay the premium if travelling independently.

Food was hit and miss, no lift, no water in the room and the hotel is pretty tired and needs a refresh.

Staff were great, really friendly and helpful, particularly the chap on reception and Sherelle in the bar.

Bar manager needs training in complaint handling and needs to improve her attitude when talking to customers Cleaning needs to be more attentive - didn't appreciate finding soiled underwear from a previous guest left in the room.

Check in was a little chaotic... location was a difficult place to find. Would have struggled without satnav. Bar closed earlier than advertised, and resulted in a confrontation with guests and staff.. Felt uncomfortable to witness.

Bathroom... Breakfast was very good, and varied. Room was ok.. I thought it would have been bigger.

The swimming pool was closed (which is why we chose this hotel over premier inn). Sometimes things happen, completely understand, but no reason was given so unsure why. Our room wasn’t ready on arrival despite arriving after check in time and we had to wait. The tv in the room has a weird locking system in it and a pin number once unlocked. No info on this in room so had to call down to reception who then talked us through the steps, but info in arrival or in room would have been beneficial. Weren’t given any information from reception staff about facilities other than telling us the swimming pool would be closed during our stay. Didn’t feel overly welcoming, more as if checking in was an imposition.

Quite outlived hotel rooms with some stains on the walls and floors. Rooms much smaller than seemed on the pictures and beds definitely smaller too. Mirror on top of the bed could be cleaned a bit better as there was some random hair stuck on it from previous guests.

Ended up in 3 rooms in a one night stay due to issues. Changing from room 1 to room 2 was easy enough - Air conditioning had soaked a 2mtr square of the floor. Changing from room 2 to room 3 was a bit more difficult, room had a patio door which was broken and didn't lock. Staff tried to convince me that issue was it was it needed to he slammed, until I pointed out that the metalwork in the frame was broken from that action previously, stopping it from locking and providing a safety risk. We were then moved to room 3 which we had no issues in. Leisure centre - poor information on requirements, you need a £1 coin for lockers, not advised before and staff have no chip coins to borrow etc, their solution is put it at pool side which there is 3 stools, thankfully 1 of them was dry but not a good solution. Also the jacuzzi and pool were very cold, from hearing the Leisure centre members, this is unusual bit disappointing on this occasion.
