The Checkmate bar was a little underwhelming with no atmosphere.

Very comfortable light and airy room which was spotless. Good breakfast, good location close to underground. Very convenient for visits to all the sites in London. Staff were excellent.

We got a room on the 5th floor. It was small and could hear traffic outside. My friend got an upgrade and got a lovely big room with a bath. The bar/restaurant wasn’t open.

It’s a great location near Gloucester station. Easy to get into Knightsbridge. Rooms are clean and it’s a quiet hotel. Gym has enough in it for a workout, plenty of weights. The staff were great.

We were given a choice between a small room on a higher floor or a larger room in the basement. We took the first option and the room wasn't bad overall but the width was too small for the twin bed and we could barely walk around it while dodging the overhead TV set. The bathroom had a urine smell when we got there without an obvious reason. The bathroom sink needed unclogging. No slippers available. There are no European sockets available and no USB charging stations. The drapes had a couple of nasty blood smudges on them, as if someone had killed bugs on them.

Location is great, right next to a metro station and close to some attractions (museums, Harrods, posh shopping streets) The hotel felt very secure both for the location and the security arrangements with the door, there is also a typical deposit box free of charge. It was well maintained, heating was adequate, the bathroom was big enough, the shower worked well. The fridge worked really silently. An ironing set was provided. The breakfast was good in the savory choices. Wifi was stable and fast. The staff was friendly and helpful.

We felt that the servicing of the rooms took place to late in the day. Even after leaving the tag on the door asking for it to be serviced they only arrived at 15:45 once we had returned from a full day of activities.

The property was perfect for what we needed. It is in a great location and is easily accessible. Being around the corner from the train station also made it easy to get to all the tourist attractions.

The carpet in the room was not vacuumed properly and we got housekeeping knock on our door early in the morning to clean the room. Check out was 3 hours away from this door knock.

Close to the royal Albert hall and a stroll to some good eateries. Good breakfast.

The room was nice but the bed wasn’t comfortable, two nights i had a back pain while i was sleeping on the bed. I spoke to reception about it but they refuse to change my room until I said, i will complain about this problem, and they change my room only for 1 night instead of 3 nights.

The place was nice and located around the restaurant and market shop.

The hotel felt run-down, and that feeling continued in the room where the carpet and walls had evidence of wear and tear. In addition, the Air conditioning was insufficient, and with a window opening up into a busy street it made for a noisy environment.

This hotel provided an excellent value for money, being quite affordable in a very nice location. The surrounding area was perfect for a stroll, and it was easy communication into the city center. The area also has a lot of restaurants and shops, as well as several museums within walking distance
