Comfortable short stay near York with plenty nearby.

Creaky floorboards in Coach house. Attached pub (The Fat Abbot), was lacking in atmosphere.

Good location just outside of York (bus stop 3 minute walk, bus ride 15 minutes). Room was a good size. Pubs and Thai restaurant close by. Breakfast was very good. Staff were excellent. Spa pool and steam rooms (4) very good.

Room was cold. A very small heater only worked when key card was in so when we left the room, the heater went off and the room was freezing again by the time we got back from meal. Wi-Fi was poor although it was free.

Location was excellent. A really good walk into York. Fantastic breakfast. I didn’t use the Spa since the weather was so nice but it looked pleasant.

From the reception to the room was a bit of a track through various parts of the hotel especially when you have cases. The leisure facilities are also outside the hotel in a building close by but we still had to walk through a room full of wedding guests to get through the hotel. This was embarrassing for us in our leggings with towel in hand and them in their suits and occasion wear.

The room was lovely, comfortable and clean. The breakfast was fantastic, plenty to choose from and tasted delicious.

Like some previous reviews, the place looks a bit tired & could do with a fresh coat of paint & some updates within the rooms, it wouldn't take much to have it sparkling but overall it was clean & comfortable.

Onside pub a bonus, spa facilities & pool were excellent, staff very pleasant, grounds beautiful, rooms perfectly adequate & comfortable.

Had to wait an hour for our room as it wasn't ready. We're given a complimentary bottle of wine without evening meal. But just wanted to get freshened up. I've also rang several times since we arrived home. My partner left his wallet in the room, and I'm still waiting for a call back.

Room was very clean. When we finally got in it. Staff wete polite especially breakfast and The Fat Abbott staff

Our room 61 was very nice . The only complaint was when we entered the room there was a odour . Think they might have to check drains.

The hotel breakfast was excellent and spa were excellent . Very helpful and accommodating staff. We have been several times and will be back.

The jacuzzi wasn't working on the first day which was the main thing in the spa I had wanted to use, and the spa was crowded; we weren't able to access any loungers for the couple of hours we were there, and the floor of the spa needed a clean. We both wanted treatments at the spa but it was fully booked (bar one 25 minute slot) so book in advance if you want one (I tried to book a few days before our stay but it was too late). The rooms could do with some updating/TLC - There were no plugs near the beds and the panelling behind our toilet was partly falling off.

The staff were very friendly and helpful across reception, restaurant, and spa. Parking was easy and location was great. There were four steam rooms/saunas and a nice rain shower in the spa. The beds in the room were comfortable. Breakfast was good, and the adjoining pub (food, wine, and staff) were great.

Improve on the cleaning, there were cob webs on top of the curtains ceiling, slightly on the dusty side,

We both loved the food, good portions to fill you up. The breakfast was really good. Close to our destination and Ellie was very quick to respond to my needs and she even booked a taxi for me which I appreciate.

The cooked breakfast could have been warmer. The first room we stayed in was above the Fat Abbott and it was very warm and a bit noisy. We had a word with reception and she changed our room straight away.

The spa is good and I like the pool and jacuzzi.

the spa was an added bonus, not too busy and good value. it was only the pool and jacuzzi we used but there was a very good well equipped gym too if anything, i would just say the heat in the pool was a little too much, but great for those winter days.

breakfast was absolutely beautiful, so much choice. the on site pub restaurant was lovely food and choice. we ate there both evenings of our stay

We had to wait for our room a bit. Room wasn't that well cleaned - found a previous person's body spray that was between bed and bedside drawers. Our lights cut out for a few hours but this was due to person in room above flooding room. Would have expected some shampoo or shower gel in bathroom for a 4 star hotel.

Staff were nice. It was good to have spa access but spa was quite busy. Breakfast was good. Plenty of choice. Although there was a noisy party downstairs, all noise was turned off around 10.30.
